2013 NFL Draft thread - ( Early Entrees, Mocks, Combine etc )

I wouldn't put it past some GM's to go ahead and take the dive with a "short" quarterback. I would be very careful though. It takes someone with a real special makeup to be able to succeed without having that prototypical height. There's a lot of variables that make guys like Russell and Brees successful.

JJ's, Aaron Murray is only like 6-1 ain't he? And some love that guy.

That's what's funny, everyone is all over on the QB's. Logan could go high, or drop like a rock. Landry, Barkley, Wilson (should be mid to early first I think) Murray, Geno, then you'll see Glennon and Bray move up or down. BTW, Bray ain't no damn second round QB, come on. Weeden went round 1 and he's close to retirement already, Bray is goin round 1 no doubt about it. :lol

Everyone says weak class, but all those guys could be gone before round 3 hits. It's really why I wish McCarron would just come out. If he gets another title, what the hell is he stayin for? Doesn't wanna take a pay cut or what?

Aaron Rodgers brother in this draft, Renfree I like a lot from Duke, he has the size needed, not sure if he has the overall skills. Nassib from Syracuse.

There's a ton of QB comin, just no real sure things. But I expect more QB's to be drafted this year than last, but I don't expect them to have the rookie years that this class did, if that makes sense. Either way, the more QB intrigue there is, the more hype builds up for the Draft, people love QB stuff and this year will have a ton of it. IMO of course.

It would be great if the bucs can get Johnathan Banks or Dee Milliner then take another corner in the second. How good is Xavier Rhodes? I saw one game and he looked pretty good.

Good call on Murray. He's definitely a first day guy.

:lol @ what u said about Weeden. Few more years till he's AARP.

Brown brass messed up their first round BIG TIME.

I'm curious to see what the Rams do with their extra first round pick. I could envision them trading back and stockpiling even more. Shouldn't be a stretch for them to consider another QB on that first day.

I want the Raiders to take Star.

But I'd be happy with trading down and hopefully getting a pass rusher. (Jordan, Mingo, Ansah)

3rd round best-case for Murray. Guys like Ponder, Tannehill and Gabbert made it because the NFL fell in love with their physical tools and hoped that potential would translate to skills. Murray is too small and unlike Russell Wilson, doesn't have the same level of athleticism

Lord help y'all if Tavon Austin ends up w/ the Pats.

Russell Wilson >> Aaron Murray

NFL scouts would turn on Murray's tape vs teams like Bama, LSU and UF and automatically knock him down a peg and he wouldn't have the "NFL measureables" to fall back on and get someone to take a reach on him. What does he do @ a level that would put him in the 1st or second round?

Teams "Fell" for Ponder because Jimbo sold the **** out of him and they valued (perhaps overvalued) his "smarts"

I think Lee goes #2 after Clowney if he has another year like this year. Even tho that's early for WR, he could get that look. He's about 6-1 ain't he? Can he grow another inch or two still? Would really help him.

He's listed @ 6'1 but he has always looked taller then Robert Woods (at least to me) who is also listed @ 6'1. So who knows. @ any rate J. Blackmon is 6'1 and he went top 5 and if Woods leaves I can definitely see Quise putting up super stupid #'s next year. Might be able to vault him to #2.

Zay is big as **** for a CB. Played most of the season somewhere around 215. I know a couple of FSU guys who felt he was even around the 220 range though that may be an exaggeration. He's gonna have to play in a Bump & Run scheme (like he would be perfect for the Seahawks) on the next level, a2 least initially. Wouldn't put a move to safety out of the question for him. Gonna be interesting to see what he run's in the 40. I think that may be an area that could possibly cause some concern for teams that want him strictly as a CB in the earlier rounds.

Gunna, few weeks back, one of them dudes, might have been Mayock said he would take Murray #1 overall.

I can't confirm or deny that he was drunk at the time, but it was said. I was like :\ :eek but if someone like that thinks that way, gotta believe some schmuck GM is gonna be dumb enough to reach, don't ya think?

In NO way am I saying he should go round 1, please let me make that perfectly clear. I wouldn't even draft that fool personally. :lol

And all of you, right here and right now, STOP with the Austin to NE crap. No. Not happening. Will not happen, can not happen, is not going to happen.

But yes, the Pats people are all in love with getting Austin late round 1.

Landry Jones is still a 1st round prospect? Seemed like he never improved even as a 4 year starter even though I think that was a product of the coaching more than anything.

He's taken a pretty big fall, he would have been a first rounder last year but now he might not even go in the 1st three rounds

he should of left 2 years ago. he has really dropped off the last 2 years at OU.
Speaking of 2014, has Russell Wilson's success done anything for shorter QBs like Manziel and Boyd? Would teams be willing to overlook their height and take a flyer on them in the first round?

you can compare boyd to wilson but i dont see how manziel is in there with them.

Boyd and wilson have NFL arms and made plays inside and out the pocket. both in NFL style offenses.

and it goes back to what u said early about if teams running the read option will help some of these guys in the draft. not really IMO because they dont have the arm for teams to fear them. cam and RG3 do.

Yea I was just asking because from what I've been reading over the past couple of years he's gotten a 1st round grade after the '10 & '11 seasons and returned after both of those seasons.

I won't say he's fallen off just that he's never gotten better. Shows signs of being a high quality passer & also makes the same mistakes he did as a frosh.

It was Tony Dungy who said it.

and Tony Dungy Knows Murray personally. his son went to HS with him.

blatant Homerism.

100% spot on and add to that he chokes under pressure. I wouldnt touch him because he isnt going to fall far enough to make him valuable to me.

Cordarelle Patterson has entered the Draft.

1st WR taken.

Percy Harvin/Peter Warrick on Steroids.

#OneAndDone
