2014 NFL Draft Thread

AJ ain't no damn Alex Smith. Quit bein hateful to the guy. :lol

I hope he goes to a team with a smart coach that has weapons and let's him do his thing.

If he gets taken as some savior for a crappy franchise, then it's over for the kid.

Not the skill set, more so the dreaded game manager label. McCarron is a smart QB. Run the offense, limit mistakes.

Calling it now. There will be debate over Teddy, Manziel, and Bortles for the first overall pick. People like Skip love Johnny and a scout just called him Brett Favre. Blake Bortles is drawing Andrew Luck comparison, even though I see more Big Ben. Waiting for analysts to critique and scrutinize Teddy.

A scout says Clowney has Randy Moss syndrome. Relying too heavily on natural ability, athleticism, and physical tools. McShay has Clowney at 5 which is too low for me. I wouldn't let him pass 2. STL will seemingly move that pick regardless, for an additional first-rounder. Get a team to jump up for Clowney, Manziel, or Bortles.

Call me crazy, but I think Johnny Football will have the biggest impact going forward in this draft.

Rumors are that his father grew another 2 inches when he turned 22 - if Johnny is blessed with those same exact genes, I think this dude will blossom into an elite QB. His arm strength is fixable, he has good eye vision and can read the field brilliantly. Mobile in and out the pocket.

OVO Manziel :hat....let's get it.

How is arm strength fixable, typo?

my money is on AJ to make the most impact out of this year's crop once all is said and done

And why does it need fixing 8o

McCarron is working with superior talent all around him.

Don't see him doing anything other than being a career backup.

I'd still say Teddy ends up being the highest impact QB. But again it all could depend on what team he is on, etc....

Granted, I am biased because I was friends with the guy, I really think he can succeed on the next level.

He's not a surefire starter but with McCarron, you get a smart football player with high football IQ. Controls the pace and tempo of games. Limits mistakes and turnovers. Can take shots at times as witnessed with Juice and Mari. I have no problem with a team selecting him late-second or early-third. AJ's better than what Jacksonville, Cleveland, Minny, etc. got. This isn't Greg McElroy.

Brees and Russy have set a trend. Perhaps Johnny and Cato can be next.

I should add his escapability, mobility, and shaking off would-be tacklers was on display much of the season.

Keep a lookout for QB Jeff Mathews out of Cornell, went to a a couple of games and he's not that bad

I feel that way about Jimmy Garoppolo and David Fales.

Tony Pauline is saying that he hears Hundley is going to change his mind and declare.
Makes sense of the strong bowl performance against a legitimate defense. But the QB class presents Teddy, Manziel, Bortles, Carr. The only one he jumps out of those four is Carr. And I don't love mistakes on tape against Stanford and Oregon. Decision-making and reads were not on point those two games specificially.
