Coming out is not an easy thing to do....it's a cesspool where you feel you will be unwanted among many of your peers, yet you are a rock star in the media who want to latch on to you and do 14 trillion stories until you can't take it any more. It's such a cycle of emotions that it's still hard to just be yourself and fit in with everyone.

I just can't wait until we are all over this and no one cares either way anymore. It's going to take another generation or two to happen though.

We may not even be alive by the time "coming out" is not considered a big thing. For all we know, it could still be some huge issue 100 years from now.

Agree. For all the progress with tolerance that his been made in some segments of society, we still have things like the Westboro Baptist Church. Still a long, long way to go.

And hard to say things are getting better. This morning every public school in LA County is being closed due to a bomb threat. Crazy times we live in. Stay safe out there NT bros.

like i alluded earlier, the ref coming out of the closet is sort of irrelevant. he has his reasons. those reasons may or may not have anything to do with rondo's verbal attack (though they most likely appears to be that way). if his reason(s) was to bring attention to the homophobic slurs being directed at him by rondo it doesn't take away from the seriousness of this issue and it certainly doesn't make kennedy some kind of grandstanding dude who's just seeking attention. it's not on him. it's all on rondo

depends where you live, i can see it no longer being a big deal in 5 years

it also depends on the industry

no one bats an eye when an actor of musician comes out

but with we are not at that stage yet with sports

When asked about emerging technology's impact on sports, the Cavaliers forward said, "Can it make me shoot better? Huh? Can they put a chip in my arm where I can shoot like Steph Curry? If not, I don't care about it."

NOT EVEN TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP LEBRO

is that you adam silver...... that's bs

timing is everything in this day & age

the flamer pulled a power move cuz he knew the light was on em.....
why is "pulling a power move" and bringing added coverage to an issue like this seen as a bad thing?

progress will never happen without power moves

i don't think bill kennedy "used" this opportunity to do anything. used this opportunity is such a bad choice of words - like it's bill kennedy who did wrong by coming out rather than rondo for using those slurs and perpetuating the venom directed at this particular ref.

should he have kept quiet and continue to take this kind of abuse from players & coaches? of course it's personal when you attack someone this way.

it's perfectly ok to shame someone who has gone out of their way to degrade you in that manner.
He definitely used the opportunity; at least in my opinion.  He used the PC shield to get this out.

Why was there emphasis on this particular word?  Do you really think Kennedy took it personal?  Him coming out and given the outcome of the situation, shows that he did. However, I'm sure he's heard his fair share of words in his years of officiating, so why now?

I think refs or anyone shouldn't be subjected to verbal abuse in any shape or form either.

I really wanna see what Adrian Worj. from Yahoo asked Kennedy.  These sports writer would pry to get a story.

like i said it doesnt matter if he' bringing attention to it now. it's irrelevant. why is the focus even on him when rondo was the wrong one here??

what difference would that have made?

yeah someone says something to purposely offend me

i get offended & bring attention to it

and everyone looks at me like i'm the one who did something wrong

while the person who offended me is forgotten about

what kind of mindset is that??

From ESPN Insider:

Thorpe mentioned a Gasol / Conley trade idea that would basically send those two to the Lakers for Russell, Randle, Clarkson and a future 1st round pick.

I'm surprised those two would have that much value and I would make that trade quickly.

so the timing of this isn't weird to anyone else..... its made up care by the nba & its a knee jerk decision because if it was an issue it would've been addressed the VERY NEXT DAY just like the dumb "oh xyz call was wrong by official #4 in last nights game but the outcome will remain the same even tho this call would've had a huge effect on the actual outcome"

what was the delay based on?

tapes had to clear customs back from mexico & then someone had to open them & remember to care about it & save face a week or so later???

good lord pull that trigger & reset Memphis... that would be extremely decent

aside from the lakers taking MARC BACK :rollin

Throw all the money you can at Whiteside.

Russell / re-signed Clarkson / Jaylen Brown / Randle / Whiteside

One quick *** rebuild. If these guys play up to their potential, then you're talking maybe 2 years max?
