2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

They're a good solid team, they have the right pieces now, add a little bench scoring, they would be scary. I'd never thought I'd say this, but the Wizards might be something soon too, and I hate them. I wish someone could say that about the Knicks.

Outside the top 5 i'm moving the pick. Cant see any cornerstone/franchise players outside top the top 3 and in our situation rather move it.

Pretty sure if we keep going this route we'll have the worst or 2nd worst record in the league - which makes it impossible for us to not get a top 5 pick.

Those top free agents aren't coming here, ya'll are dreaming. Maybe some of the average dudes, but I wouldn't want Wesley Matthews at $10 million a year, no way. Phil is smarter than that btw.

Double edged sword. Trade for a upcoming FA (Dragic or before Rondo got to DAL) and lose assets or wait and strike out during the offseason.

I think Dragic and Monroe/Millsap are very possible. Wouldnt consider them average either.

What makes you say that?

During free agency the Knicks will be a big market team, with a top 3 pick and a ton of salary coming off the books

Milsap wouldn't be a bad pick up, I wouldn't mind that pick up and I think it's more realistic than Gasol or LA. And for some reason I think either Amare's knee is going to explode or they're saving him for a trade, but who knows.

We cannot trade our pick, we will not follow that ridiculous front office route we went on from 2002 - 2013. No way - I don't even want to hear it. Curse you for even suggestioning it!!

Dragic & Monroe for the type of money they'll want, Nahhhh. If they're willing to take paycuts for under $10 mill a year, sure. We're not in a position right now to overpay for slighty above average players in Free Agency and think that's actually going to help our franchise going forward. We're 5 -28.

Ok so we're not getting the #1 pick. We're not getting any of the top FA. We're stuck with Melo and below average players for the next 5 years.

So why continue being a fan?

Some people just cant be satisfied. We're 5-28 but you dont wanna overpay for 2 more all stars? But you wanna draft some rotation/bench player in a very weak draft outside the top 3?

Doesnt make sense to me. Fine, we cant move the pick, but if we have the money this year we need to use it or else we're gonna play this "maybe next year" game forever.

I don't think we're allowed to trade the pick fwiw. Or maybe we can draft a player and trade them a later date? Not sure the rules on that one.

I pretty much summed that up earlier, we always seem a piece here or there away, but I feel you on that "maybe next year" thing because that's how I felt last year.

I believe too, but I dont understand what people want.

The 5-28 and our roster outweighs the whole "NYC greatest place to play" BS. We're gonna have to overpay once we strike out on the tier 1 free agents.

I think we'll get decent to solid players, maybe all star caliber, but the top tier free agents, I don't know, I am just being honest.

I won't even call it striking out. Only legit tier 1 player we might have a chance at is Love. Don't see Gasoline leaving and LA would be foolish to leave Dame. We're gonna be stuck going after those next tier guys out of necessity. But even then, Dragic and Monroe plus this core could be a pretty solid team.

Who said we're not getting the number one pick? We'd be at least guaranteed a top Four if this continues.

We aren't stuck with Melo at all (he's our biggest asset, he can always be moved in the future).

We're not getting any of the top Free Agents but who cares? It's not LeBron James out there.

All your ideas so far, we've been doing for the past 12 years bro - it hasn't worked. It's about time we switch it up. It doesn't happen overnight tho.

Realistically we're not getting the #1 pick. This would be the year to get it too. With Melo, the trade deadline approaching, and all this money (next years pick we dont even have so there goes that) its just not gonna happen. These are the cards we're being dealt.

Dude I love the drafting route, but unless we strike gold a full rebuild will take another 5-10 years.

I rather rebuild and it take 5 years...

Than do what we've been doing since the 1999 NBA Finals.

the sad thing is we struggled and struggled, then had a chance to build something. but we only got 1 good year out of all of that. (2012-2013)
and now we're back. :smh: :x :rolleyes |I

first team in the league with 30 Ls :x

I'd take Monroe and Dragic this Summer with a Top draft pick. That would get us back in the playoffs in the East for sure

Donnie walsh the same guy who got us under the cap and didnt land a superstar in 2010 so all that saving money just to overpay amare for 1 good year smh. Also the terrible draft picks in shump and jordan hill didnt help either. and we cant trade this years pick if we wanted too. thats a good thing though probably would make some dumb trade anyway

I would overpay for Dragic. I wouldn't overpay for Monroe but you would have to anyway. Dragic would play at the level that is almost justifiable for what he would get. Monroe, while a good player, I think he's reached his ceiling. His passing ability would be great in the Triangle though but we are going to need a defensive 4 next to him. So you either draft Towns (who isn't a defensive specialist but does make an effect to protect the rim) or you drop a few spots and draft Cauley-Stein.

Here's a Greg Monroe scouting video from the past off-season:
