One thing I haven't seen mentioned is why in earth is Josh Donaldson playing so far off the line in that situation? Bad coaching.

The A's went all in with giving up Cespedes for Lester and got Samardzija and Hammel via trade and Hammel gives up the winning hit to the Royals and they're probably gonna lose all of them via free agency.

Can we please stop with the "All in" narrative. Going all in is depleting your farm system for players to win now. Going all in is trading a top major league prospect who isnt quite ready to produce in the bigs for players to win now.

Going all in is not trading your middle of the order bat for a top pitcher. Thats simply trading hitting for pitching.

The whole "all in" narrative was and is a joke in relation to the A 's.

They traded their top prospect for Smamaaradjia who they will most likely not be able to sign.

Trading your middle-of-the-order bat and your top prospect for two guys who will not be re-signed is definitely going all-in. Don't understand why people keep trying to argue against it.

I wondered this myself. If he's closer to the line that ball rockets to him for an easy throw out at first, if it finds its way through the hole Colon still wouldn't have scored and we might be in the 18th or 19th inning right now.

And what was Cespedes and his sub .300 on base percentage and sub 450 slugging since being traded to a division full of hitters park gonna do to help there? That dude doesn't strike fear into anyone. That trade didn't kill their season. Come on now.
