anywhere to find pitch breakdown? like how often a pitcher throws a certain pitch? jose fernandez threw 2 first pitch fastballs, both get stroked, next batter first pitch changeup and it's bombs away

Coaches, and even some players, smoke cigarettes in between innings a lot more than you would think. Aubrey Huff was know to take breaks inbetween innings to go down into the tunnel and smoke a heater. Never seen someone do it in full view of the camera though.

If BJ Upton and Heyward could actually get on base, he'd be pushing mid-20's RBI right now. Those two have been TRASH.

Justin's batting average with runners on base is a whopping .154....he definitely should take his fair share of blame for his lack of RBIs. Just saying.

Like I said before, it's going to take time for BJ to adjust to NL pitching .. as far as Heyward goes, not sure what his issue is, I figured this would be a big year from him but he's known to be a slow starter. For now, expect Justin and Freeman (if he's 100%) to carry the offensive load until everyone else gets in a groove.

On a serious note, what I noticed is he's trying to live up to that contract already. He's over swinging and chasing bad balls. With Justin on a tear, I'm pretty sure BJ is going extra hard to match that. Once he calms down and settles in with the NL pitching, I think he will do some damage in that lineup. That may not happen until June-July though.

doing a little independent research, here's what i've found.
bj upton swings at less pitches out of the zone than the major league average, and swings at more pitches in the zone than the major league average.
the major league average for contact on pitches thrown out of the zone is 65%. BJ Upton's percentage of contact on pitches out of the zone is 57%.
the major league average for contact on pitches thrown inside the zone is 86.4%. BJ Upton's respective percentage is 78.
lastly, he has a greater % of swinging strikes than the ML average.
obviously it's early, but those numbers don't sit too well. maybe the problem is his swing

I think some people have unrealistic expectations of BJ Upton...he's really an average player and was overpaid. He's a career .253 hitter and has only ever had one season at .300 and only one with an .OPS over .800...and that was when he was 22. Hes 28 now and his numbers have been declining over time. Last yr he was bad too...Justin on the other hand is a monster and is only gonna get better smh

I read it. Am I mistaken or if Justin Upton had come through more times with runners on not only would his average be higher, but he'd probably have driven in more runs right? Maybe I just don't get it though
