I know he'll settle for something in the 200 range but still that's too much

ANY contract for 5+ years is too much for somebody this age.
What 5+ year contracts have actually lived up to the hype/cost? I can only think of a couple

I truly hope that when Robbie signed with Jay-Z, he went from all about the Yankees to all about the money. He fired Boras for not even considering opening the door for the Yanks to negotiate in spring training. Now, to end up like this? I love you Robbie but not like this.

Girardi can't come to Chicago, I think they like Sveun just fine.
No way on Cano, but I guess I could see Theo spending on Price. I still think it's a year early to spend, but I could be wrong. I'm hoping our entire Triple A club comes up for 2015 and we let them go. Maybe even Sept 2014 to get their feet wet.

100% on point.

I run into a lot of older folks (retired variety) who tell me they don't watch pro sports anymore because of the money these guys get for playing a sport.

First I think it's a cop out because they really don't care to watch, but mostly, I get upset because it's not the players' fault. These leagues/teams are their own entities and can pay whatever they want to within their own realm of business. Whatever though.
