2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

Wade can extend his career if he comes of the bench and accepts the 6th man role.

Same could be said about Kobe
Kobe goat going out the way he did (in my eyes)
Hard to see but he did it his way

I think every star could extend their career if they were willing to take a reduced role. But most stars can't handle the demotion.

is okc mgmt to blame for kd leaving?

was trading ibaka a desperate move to keep kd or the last straw in a failed experiment?

I honestly think his time ran its course.  He's in the prime of his career, he's come up short every year and looking at that team, I was unsure what they could do to boost up that team.  They had to do something.  I don't know if trading Ibaka was it.  I guess KD was more like, "Well, I'm just going to take matters into my own hands." which he should.  He fulfilled his contract and it was his decision.  He wasn't going to please everyone with his decision.  Guarantee if he stayed with OKC all the warrior fans would have said something along the lines of "We don't need you anyway..."  "You choked a 3-1 lead away."  I feel like management has done their part and so has KD.  It honestly feels like the team peaked and just came up short.  OKC is a contender for sure, but I think we have all seen their best basketball.  It was good enough to win a ship or two for sure, but it just didnt happen

Can't wait to see Anthony Davis leave NO for the best time in the league when he's a fa.

KD had enough for sure.

He had enough after last year.

No way he threw the series against GSW, but he wasn't upset about losing it either.

really thought he was gonna do the 1+1yr option and play it out with the new roster and see if they could have finished it out. you'd think pushing the w's to 7 and seeing them get beat by cavs would give them confidence that they could beat the w's
if things didnt work out, then he would leave. kd left one yr earlier than i expected. it was really strange to see how the season ended and him not saying much about the future with the okc in interviews like,"we'll be back stronger, etc" think free agency was on his mind even before the season ended

i think after being up 3-1 and losing, there was no team in okc he could be a part of that could be any better than that and they still lost

like he prolly felt like at this point there is nothing else i can do here

Ben Simmons assisted off floor with a leg injury. This is fine. #TrustTheProcess

Lebron left to play with certain people and so did KD. The circumstances surrounding which team was worse or better when they left doesn't matter. They did the same thing. Peoople still wanna give Lebron a pass for that.
I find it disingenuous that what KD did is somehow worse than what LeBron did.

KD almost beat da GSW, up 3-1...and da GSW are a 73-9 team before he got there...

In the back of my mind, I thought the same thing.  Give it one more shot and if it doesn't work out, then maybe you and Russ leave at the same time.  He would take a lot of pressure off himself that way, people in OKC would be mad at hm and Russ instead of just him lol.  There were also people saying he didn't want to have to go through all of this again next year, which is understandable.  I can imagine how stressful this is, millionaire or not.  I also think that him staying and possibly losing (to GSW maybe, again), would have lessened his chance to go to Golden State.  Can you imagine if he lost to GSW again next year and then joined them?? Lol...

Russ aint gonna be in that OKC jersey much longer. Is this one of the biggest **** ups ever or what?
You pull off some of the greatest drafting ever seen and then just let it all slip right through your fingertips. Damn shame.

All from being cheap SMH. 2017 OKC's starting 5 is looking like Adams, Kanter, Olapido, Payne, and Sabonis.

that's why they need to trade russ. him and billy D are gonna play the okc thunder out of a top lotto pick. he's good enought to get them 30+ wins. time to tank
