2022 NBA Offseason Thread: Preseason kicks off; Things are fine in Los Angeles, Draymond beats the charges

No one forgets that AD was great in the bubble. His 2 seasons since the bubble have been underwhelming. And it's not just his health, his jumper completely fell off from where it was in the bubble. Went from shooting 38% on threes in the 2020 playoffs to 23% ever since.

AD probably looked at, as favorably as Embiid had he played in the East. The best version of AD as a #1 option, with solid teammates around him is close to 50 wins and winning a playoff round. He’s done that.

That is the same thing Joel Embiid gets praised for, in the East.

man none of these trade offers for kd have been good.

bk gonna get terrible returns for both kyrie and kd
Super star trades never yield such great returns.

Brooklyn thinks they are going to win the trade. They won’t in the short term

Bosh has never in his career been close to the best at his position in the league.

AD got 4 All NBA selections. And 2 1st team All 1st team defense selections. And the vast majority of that was in New Orleans. He has also proven to be maybe the best Robin in the league on a title team, while Bosh was going scoreless in G7 of a conference finals.
He was 2nd team all-nba in 2007. He was the best PF in the east that year. Dirk/Duncan was probably #1 in the league.

Might be a tad controversial, and someone can pull numbers of other Top players through their first 10 year, but I saw something that said AD has missed like 27% of the games in his career excluding the playoffs. That is legitimate cause for disappointment, the monikers such as Street Clothes or Always Disabled and the perception of where he ranks being lower than maybe where he should be.

Even with his limited playoff success, if he had a better health record (ie missed fewer games) then I think the narrative around him would be different

Well I think it's injury but also think his offensive development has been disappointing.

His playmaking never really improved much
And He's never been able to power teams to consistent offensive success.

Even on defense, he's never had like a Gobert like effect in the regular season where he can cover up for everyone.

He's an incredible talent
but it seems like he lacked the work ethic and competitive drive to fulfill those lofty pre draft expectations.

wavycrocket wavycrocket got money to pay off ESPN analyst to make Steph hot takes but won't help @finessence out with a payday loan.

@MajinZuub about to send mans account to collections. Finna have TransUnion and Equifax on his *** too.

But nah, Wavy instead spend his money on a Curry Propaganda Campaign.

Nasty work :smh:
Don't forget he also got storm2006 storm2006 out here taking care of his baby momma and infant child, buying them $50K dogs and **** :smh:

Laugh now. Cry later.

Sean Marks is some years Ahead of the curve, but will be proven right down the line :pimp:

They called Mark Jackson crazy for suggesting the splash bros were the greatest shooting backcourt ever in 2013. I see the vision.

I think the better argument is best players in their peak-primes. Mike is always going to be #1. Steph is in that convo for the next spot (as are all the other top 10 guys).

It will be televised.
Steph is not in that convo. He doesn’t have the longevity of peak play to box with those guys. We all know this. Peak prime =/= all-time rankings

This situation is unique not just because of the fact that it is KD (a current Top 5-10 player) or that Gobert broke the market but because just a year ago we were all talking about how the Nets were a Finals lock because they had THREE superstars in/around their prime heading into the 2021-2022 season. Harden and Kyrie had player options this summer and KD is signed through 2025-2026.

You can not head into 2022-2023 with ZERO of those original superstars from a year ago and nothing to show for it, especially when Kyrie opted in. I said it with Benjamin and I will say it with KD - he willingly signed a long-term contract. Hold on to him until you get back what you want.

I would be curious how you and others would rate the Harden trade for the Nets….(not asking in a confrontational way, I am just genuinely curious  )

Would the nets accept the Wolves offer for Gobert?

Would that be enough? 3 role players and 5 picks.

Of course. He bout to make it interesting tho :nerd:. Resume getting awfully close to Magic…and Magic is in the convo I got Magic top 3. MJ/Kareem & Magic Mane

Steph over Bron is just being disingenuous. I respect that he’s probably top 10 but outside of shooting there’s nothing that Steph curry does better than bron.

We still talking about the East being weak in 2022??

Can still make a case for healthy AD being elite without downplaying Embiid playing at an MVP level the last few years

That’s not downplaying. I said AD is a top 5-10 player when healthy. And he’s essentially done what Embiid has done, as the “guy”.
I think highly of Embiid too. Right now, he’s just looked at more Favorably than AD, and they are the same tier. Elite of the elite
