It sucks the Wolves had to get ripped off so bad for Gobert, that the consensus around the league is that the Jazz are gonna get 5 FRPs for Donovan now.

Melo got traded for 3 young players and 1 unprotected pick. Ain’t no way should Mitchell get a larger return.
That was 10 years ago lol
Times have changed

Aint no body gives af about Tyler Herro man. Stop it. Teams value wings, even non consistent shooting ones, over a streaky SG that can’t play defense.

During the actual draft not one team would pass on RJ at #3. There were rumors of him going #2.

You think a wing and 2 are different. It’s not even that simplistic. Herro as a primary playmaker/scorer is better than Barrett. They are asked to play the same role. Kept it a buck herro has more pnr possessions

Rumors of him going 2 mean what in 2022?

Also Danny seems more focused on just accumulating as many picks as possible rather than a blue chip talent anyway if the Gobert trade is any indication, so it'll probably be a moot point anyway. The salary fillers plus 4 of their 8 tradeable 1st rounders should get it done. Then you can have Brunson-Donovan-RJ which makes infinitely more sense than the former 2 alone.

Harper Jr. is Filipino?!
Looks that way -

Randle is trash, Rose was out for 70% of the year. As a 21 year old RJ was our best player and ended up a leader toward the end of the year and we somehow got to 37 wins. Replace him with any of these other guys that are supposedly better and let’s see what they can do. We’d be a bottom 5 team.

Garland is 100% better. Herro is debatable. And a lot of those late wins were against tanking teams while Thibbs was still playing his main guys down the stretch.

If he was on any other team doing this we wouldn't be talking about him like this. Any other 21 year old with those numbers isn't being talked about like this.
Is this true? Cats were calling DBook a looter under more impressive circumstances. RJ has CLEAR limitations that are being discussed throughout the thread. This isn’t Knicks’ bias.

Comparing Demar Derozan, who arguably has like the most game and one of the biggest bags in the league, to RJ Barrett.

What are these days we are living in…

LEVEL of player.

Not a 1 of 1 comparison. But their overall impact from the wing as #1 option. That’s what I said..as a CEILING

Demar came in, struggling as a creator too. As well as Paul George But y’all forget.

Comprehension really is going down the drain

If you forced me to bet I'd bet that RJ Barrett is never as a good as Donavan Mitchell.

But Imo there's like a 1% chance he becomes as a good as say Jimmy Butler.

Unlikely, but possible.

Donavan Mitchell, Randle and Brunson is like max a 2nd round exit team...

So I think I'd rather hold to RJ Barrett and hope he reaches that 1% outcome.

If you miss out on Donavan Mitchell who cares?
he was getting roasted in the playoffs by Spencer Dinwiddie.

Knicks not getting Donovan without RJ.

I'm not even a big RJ guy. I agree with the if hes your 3rd best player, then you ok. Lol.

I guess some non-Knick fans here are widely convinced the Knicks MUST trade everything of value for Donovan Mitchell. Not clear why except Mitchell is better than everyone on the current team?

We know, no one loves this roster, we just don’t want to go all in with future assets to build around Donovan Mitchell. He’s a good player but he ain’t enough for all that.

What are we then, basically the Beal Wizards? Woo-hoo….
nick. nick. is in favor of the deal .There’s no uniform Knicks’ fan stance. It’s a message board. People are discussing it.

Demar wasn't that good in the beginning of his career. Almost no one is. Why do basketball fans forget all about the development that goes into most players to become a star?

Demar was not that impressive 10 years ago when he was RJs age. But the Raptors didn't trade him for Monta Ellis. They kept him and developed him and he became an all-star. Then they traded him for a much better player than they would've gotten for him back then.

Get rich quick schemes instead of player development has almost always blown up in a team's face. Trading for Lebron is like the one exception.

Facts!

This was Demar Derozen’s “bAG” at 21 years old…

What team are the Knicks blowing up? They've won 40+ games once since 2013.
They should stay the tanking course but the Knicks can never resist switching to an early round exit type of team at the 1st opportunity…that’s really the problem

They’ve been that bad while of chasing the 7th/8th seed which is kind of impressive :lol :{

Would you take DDR at any stage of his career over what Mitchell has shown thus far in his? I’d say no, but curious to hear thoughts.

I sho will

But to be real, this is another treadmill deal for the Knicks. It’s going to be ugly, seeing D Mitch as a #1 option without shooting, passers, defenders and an all nba C, and modern coach.

They need to get off of Thibbs too
