Last time the Cardinals lost they were a few games back in the wild card race. They clinched it tonight.
I wonder if clinching this early did them a disservice though. When you’re hot, you want to get out to the ballpark and play every day. They have nothing to play for over these final 5 games, but they don’t want to disrupt their momentum by taking their foot off the gas.
They’re not a playing a meaningful game again until next Wednesday and they’ll have two days off after the season ends Sunday.
