2023 MLB Thread; Say Hey, everybody: Rest In Power, Willie

There were likely more Cubs fans in Kauffman than royals fans. Royals scored 3 runs to go up 1 in the bottom of the 6th. Cubs hit a grand slam in the top of the 7th. Place went crazy.

Drove by Kauffman once but haven't been to a game there yet. Clips I saw of the reaction to that Wisdom Salami made it seem like a home game for sure. Good to see some Cubs offense.

Heard the Cubs may go the buy/sell route, but this seems like they’re pretty confident they’ll get a WC spot and advance. Happy for that fanbase.

The fact that the Dodgers and Yanks were both in a bidding war for him and the Cubs come out of nowhere. Pretty good get by the Cubs.

As a Cubs fan, it's not likely. Cubs ownership/management tends to either dump it all or just roll the dice on a trade or two and hope that something turns positive at the right time. It rarely does. Morel was pretty inconsistent, but he was a fan favorite and a huge clubhouse energy dude. Bummer to lose him, especially trading him during a game and pulling him off the field to send him away. Hopefully Paredes works out better than other trades, but I have little hope. They'll sell tickets and merch either way. Almost as bad as Reinsdorf.
