So Padres want to pair Soto with Tatis and are viewed as the early favorite. Do they even have the pieces to pull that off? Then having to commit the contract to them. Wonder how that’d all work for them.

You can’t commit $700-800 mill to 2 players. It just won’t work. Tatis won’t even be on the field at that. Injury prone.

Pads aren’t know to be big spenders and if memory serves depleted a bit of their farm system to get a Clevinger and Snell. Don’t know if they have the prospects to pull it off. Unless they decide to become big spenders too, see his hamstringing them the way the Angels were with big contracts (before with Pujols, Hamilton, Upton; now with Trout, Ohtani, Rendon) and unable to sign/resign players with a depleted system.

I’ve been drinking but I forgot between Tatis and Machado that’s like close to $700mil so idk how Soto would work there. Unless Machcado would be on the move which I doubt.

I keep forgetting Machado’s contract. That’d potentially be 1.2 billion for 3 contracts. Machado would have to be traded or rerouted in a three team trade.
