2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

It’s crazy how the Astros still win games even when their best players are injured.
Their players have integrity because they’ll cheat to win while you guys have won 1 title in 23 years with a blank check. Grinders at NASA HQ.

lol A blank check? They spent a few years not spending to get below luxury tax threshold. They haven’t been the highest payroll team in mlb for a while too

Hal hasn’t operated anything like has Dad. They were repeat offenders their tax each year kept rising. It was like right before signing Cole, if they were able to get under the $175 mil mark (I believe) it reset their tax.

Yankees haven’t operated like a good number of teams now throwing big contracts in what feels like almost a decade again with Elsbury, McCann, and Beltran. Cole and Judge - throw in Rodon too I guess - have been the most spending they done in years.

I will always **** around with the Yankees, but you guys… like 23 years of an advantage with the city, the payroll, the history, the draw. Maybe if you introduce Octobeard.

Gerrit Cole is not a big timer. He shouldn’t be there leading the rotation. Clemens was, Johnson was even though you didn’t win with him, bad timing. Pettitte was, CC surprisingly late in his career was fit for it in 2009, David Wells even. There’s a demeanor.

I’ve been in favor of doing away with the facial hair policy. I played ball at a college that had the same policy. Was no fun lol.

I wouldn’t say Cole is not a big timer. He’s been solid. Has finish like top three in Cy Young voting every season since signing.

But he is not a Yankee that scared me like Clemens, or Pettitte in his prime. I know Cole can choke. Houston Cole sure. And that’s your 1 ‘now’.

Cole with an offense behind him is different than Cole pitching with this lineup. This current lineup that’s been struggling, Cole has to be pretty much be perfect. That’s hard to ask, knowing he’s going to, or has to give you 6 innings. Even with being said, he has a 2.78 ERA lol.

A lot of what I think you’re referring to that happened last season, were games that Higgy caught him. They posted numbers for when Cole has pitched to both and his numbers (hits/runs/era) were drastically higher when Higgy caught him and have tried to not let that happen as much as they can. Harder now that Trevino is out for the year, but either Rortvedt and whoever they acquire at the deadline will prob catch him from here on out.

Ya I’m referring to his whole Yankees career, that play in game and everything, 2.78 is good.

That play in game, he was coming off an injured hamstring. That was his first start back and you could tell he still wasn’t right then. His velo was down and everything was up in the zone.

Is Rodon considered the #2? Nestor been out for a min too g-time g-time
I would think so, considering Rodon’s last couple seasons. I think he needed a little more time on his rehab assignment considering he really didn’t have a spring training. Nestor is supposed to be back next week or so. He just started a rehab assignment a couple days ago. Was on the 60 day IL.

My Padres…..just sell already…

At the game last night and couldn’t agree more. Night after night they’re selling out the stadium and the product they’re putting on the field is some MID bs man I swear.

Got drunk and angrily bought this Gwynn jersey 🤣

i hope they don't purely because i like going to their games and don't want to see brandon dixon and other no name losers playing every night

Don’t think they will even after last night. Now ask me at the end of this homestand and the answer might change but still don’t think they’ll sell.

Phils offense been straight pathetic from our big names 1-5 hitters

**** i hate watching sloppy trash baseball

Can you explain the reasoning as to why Schwarber bats lead off? Him and Castellanos are on my fantasy team so I watch a ton of Phils games and still can’t come up with a good reason as to why he’s lead off lol

Why not lead off with Stott?

topper is so stubborn on the LU with schwarb leading off because "Its what got them to the WS last season" something about the #s when he leads off some more analytic ********

i agree stott has been the best hitter in the LU and they need to toy with a different approach before it becomes to late

i personally HATE schwarb at leadoff - EYE dont care about his solo leadoff HRs. he has the most RBIs on the team fit him at 4th or 5th and drop JT all the way down to like 7th
