Honestly didn’t think that ball was hit hard enough for Rizzo to stay back/deep on. Felt like he could have closed in on it and would basically put him at the bag.

Yea I don't think Cole beat out Mookie even though the effort was just beyond pathetic especially considering the circumstances.

tl;dw Rizzo was going for it but it spun sideways so he had to back up.
Cole should've been sprinting to first until Rizzo waves him off.

He doesn’t have to wait for Rizzo to wave him off. That’s simple PFP (pitcher fielding practice) - I got it/you take it. You see Cole saying you take it. The side spin, where you see it take that spin wasn’t until just past the bag. Rizzo didn’t need to sit back on that one.
