As a Giants fan, im not even mad. Operating under the rules, so I cant blame them. What I will say is this:

-this is shameless purchasing of titles

-fans of 29 teams are rooting for catastrophic injuries to the Dodgers stars, as they think thats the only way any other team can compete....which is terrible for the game.

-the way the Dodgers are operating is going to be turning a lot of people off the sport.

I'm obviously biased, but I completely get this take. However, wouldn't most fans want their team to do the same if they had the means? They're making a ****load of money, so I rather they maximize my team's potential to win than pocket it.

MLB has had periods in its history where a team here or there had similar approaches as LA now but it's been ok . Folks will watch and root against the Dodgers, perhaps now more than ever in hopes to see a "villain" fall.

The team would be fun to watch. I still think they would need a righty bat to balance out the lineup though. I wonder if they'll make a move for a guy like Rooker or Alonso to add some pop from the right side after adding Soto.

League’s out of whack no going back, but fan interest is clearly indicating that most people admit or understand some franchises are playing two different games than the other 85% of the league.

You'd be disgusted if you replaced a fringe All Star and a perennially hurt starter with a sure fire HOFer who isn't even in his prime yet and a 2x Cy Young winner?

Oh I don't blame the Dodgers one bit. They are operating within the rules and doing nothing wrong. I'd be thrilled if the Giants did that. But if the Giants DID, I would still believe it was bad for the sport. How many GMs are thinking to themselves now: "well what's the point of taking on$100M in salary for next season? We can't compete with the Dodgers so why bother?" That's bad for the game.

I get your point about taking down the villains (I am looking at you bum a** Padre fans), but that only goes so far. I have had 5 people text me tonight something ranging from "I won't be watching baseball next year" to "I won't be paying close attention next year" and only 2 of the 5 are Giants fans. I have to imagine that many other baseball fans are turned off by this and feel the same way.

And for the record, I know there have been plenty of teams that have similar approaches and tried to buy titles in my lifetime (I am 42 y/o for the record). But there has never been a situation like this before. In fact, I can confidently say that there's nothing that has even come close.

Honestly, those Yankee vibes aren't even close to this level. It's Yankee vibes on steroids, human growth hormones, horse tranquilizers, and some on.

I had Teo on my fantasy team. Very aware of how well he did for you all. But he is no where near Soto's level (I know you know that).

The dignity you have has left your team's clubhouse already my friend.

Yea, you can't talk about what owners/teams should do to improve their team and then say you'd be disgusted to replace Teo/Walker with Soto/Snell

Get the best players available whenever you can.

Soto is good but not $660 million good. Dodgers have deep pockets but just because you have it doesn’t mean you have to use it. And I’m seeing a range of 12-14 years reported on that deal
