Agreed on the height. Also haven’t seen anything of note defensivelyAcuff looks closer to 6'1 than 6'3. With that said, he looks like he can be an offensive engine in the league.
Would be very curious what the Hawks would do if he's on the board with the Pelicans' pick. Would they sign up to draft another small, offense only guard?Agreed on the height. Also haven’t seen anything of note defensively
We’ve seen this profile before, hopefully he lands with a good organization.
You can certainly be a positive team defender at the 1 without being Jrue Holiday. What starting PG in the NBA plays elite defense? It’s literally tye least impactful defender you can have on the floor anyway. Also Acuff has a long wingspan. He only looks short because he’s swole. Kid is the best guard in the country! I’ve been saying it, Perkins been saying it. The best college PG Cal has ever coached
True he definitely got to improve, but my thing is you have a guy like Boozer, who actually plays a position where defense is ultra important and his defensive short comings just get glossed over. Dude got no hops, he’s 6’8 and he’s not long. Averages under a block. You are basically hoping he becomes his own special archetype in the league. You know what you’re gonna get with Acuff. Just got to put the right pieces around himYou can certainly be a positive team defender at the 1 without being Jrue Holiday.
Whether you can get a guy to that point is a dice roll & should absolutely be mentioned if the tape is showing nothing inspiring.
Because you definitely shouldn’t expect him to improve on that end of the floor when he’s taking a bunch of shots for you.
And two things can be true - You can be the best guard in the draft…. while having that area of improvement.
How y’all feel about Tanner? Big fan. Don’t know his ceiling, but he can play for real.
