Exactly just to shut them up at least. Settle it out of court otherwise she'll end up being ordered to give up more than a mil.
To most people, giving away 1 million dollars when you have like 100+Mil in the bank (none of which she really "earned") isn't a big deal, but I think the fact she worked at McDonalds when she's in her 30s/40s would give us the assumption that she's been broke for a LONGGGGGG time..So she's looking to enjoy as much of that money as possible. Plus, if she really did buy that ticket for the work pool, you really gonna settle for $1mil as opposed to like $20 mil?

still, unless she photocopied the ticket with the numbers she played for her pool, she's going to lose if this goes to court and she will have to split the money. As you already said, this happened already and since she has no proof either way, the courts will rule against her. She should at least be happy shell get something.

she shoulda laid low...no way she can be in the city for too long now without dropping some bread....

How would they know? If I buy 10 tickets, 5 for a work pool and 5 for myself, who's to say that the winning ticket isn't 1 of the 5 i purchased on my own? That's why you MUST make sure whoever is in charge of the pool gives you a copy of the tickets they purchased with the pool money. These guys were dumb not to and it will possibly cost them millions that they will never make over their entire lifetimes
i actually hope this chick does have the winner just to see how this plays out

shes gonna try and be greedy and end up getting sued and losing more than if she split it up - and i wouldnt put it past someone to take her health either
supposed to be a press conference today....we'll see

this woman's got some loose screws up there....

One of the three Mega Millions jackpot winners says her winning ticket remains stashed away inside the Baltimore McDonald's where she works. But some of Marlinde Wilson's co-workers think she is telling a Big Lie.

"I left my ticket there, and it's somewhere safe that only I know about," Wilson told the New York Post. "I'm waiting for things to calm down so I can go back to McDonald's and get it. The people [at McDonald's] are too excited. I want their heads to cool down before I go back."

Wilson claims to have purchased one of the three winning Mega Millions lottery tickets. The three winners will each receive a share of the record-breaking $640 million jackpot. If Wilson's story is true, that would mean a $105 million ticket (after taxes) is stashed away somewhere inside the fast food restaurant.

Wilson's co-workers appear to be split in their opinion of her but all who have spoken to the media seem to share some animosity toward the Haiti native. Some of Wilson's colleagues say she is attempting to cheat them out of what should be shared winnings from a pool of lotto tickets 14 of the McDonald's employees purchased together.

And Wilson's manager, identified only as "Layla" by the Post, says she thinks Wilson isn't telling the truth about hiding the ticket inside the McDonald's. "That's impossible. She didn't come back here" after she purchased the ticket, Layla said.

CBS News has also raised questions about whether or not Wilson actually purchased one of the three winning tickets. Mega Millions officials say they do not know who actually purchased the ticket. They have only been able to confirm that the winning ticket was in fact purchased at a Baltimore 7-Eleven just four hours before the winning numbers were announced.

The Post also raises some question's about Wilson's character, noting she has a Facebook page under the alias Sheila Paraison, on which she says she will donate her winnings to relief efforts in Haiti.

@ the "press conference"  - still no ticket...the lawyer is gonna be mad when he has to garnish her mcdonalds paycheck to try and recover his fees

i can only imagine his emotions going from being the lucky one who got chosen to rep a winner in one of the largest jackpots to now dealing with this nonsense

Now she sayin she "lost" the ticket. FOH %%%$$. You aint had $@+*. Or she gonna do some grimey $@+* and have someone else cash it and break em off so she dont gotta give nothing to her co-workers.

But I think she been lyin the whole time. She aint had $@+*.

So lets say she did win and wont cash in becuase shes spooked. What would happen to the money?

Would the other winner just get an additional check, would the money go back into the pot or would the money just magically disappear?

she got a year. i'd tell her wait till some random day in August and cash the joint. Eff the cowowrks. lol

Nah the ones from Kansas and Illinois came forward already. But they are allowed to be kept anonymous because of state law. And you can actually be kept anonymous in Maryland as well. But this $@*++ was clearly doing this all for the attention.

^ I don't think the winner in Illinois has come forward yet. In Illinois, you can't remain anonymous. Kansas and Maryland can..

Edit- none of the winners have come forward. Not sure where you heard that. The only thing that happened was that delusional, real life troll in Maryland that claimed she won, then went back to McDonald's just to hide the ticket..she has problems..

I was reading fast on one of the Yahoo articles about the troll and thought I read that they came forward. But I guess I missread it. Because apparently the Kansas winner came forward today around 5:30 or something. I read that while I was trying to find the article I was reading this morning.
