It seemed destined for her to go to Nike.

Caitlin Clark, the top WNBA draft pick, is nearing a groundbreaking deal with Nike, potentially worth eight figures, per Shams Charania. This deal includes her own Nike shoe, a significant milestone for women’s basketball and Clark’s rising star status.

Clark’s journey to this pivotal endorsement deal underscores her exceptional talent and work ethic. Hailing from West Des Moines, Iowa, she gained national attention in high school, earning three Gatorade Player of the Year titles.

Committing to the University of Iowa, Clark continued to shine on the court, averaging 26.6 points per game as a freshman. Her standout performance garnered accolades like Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

In her sophomore year, Clark further solidified her dominance, leading the nation in scoring with 29.9 points per game and earning First-Team All-American honors.

Renowned for her scoring, court vision, and leadership, Clark draws comparisons to basketball legends. Her consistency and ability to elevate teammates make her formidable.

Transitioning to the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, Clark is set to elevate women’s basketball. Her Nike deal signifies recognition of women’s sports’ marketability and popularity.

This endorsement deal aligns with efforts to boost visibility and support for women athletes. Clark’s signature shoe sets a precedent for more opportunities and representation.

Clark’s journey epitomizes perseverance and talent. With ambitions beyond basketball, she aims to make a lasting impact on and off the court.

Can't wait to see them. Nike should've had them ready for the start of the season. The hype is insane right now.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense with them not having them available for the start of the season based on the history of signature athletes' shoes normally releasing around that time frame. Especially with her name current popularity.

As a University of Iowa alumni, I’ve watched her since she stepped on the court at Carver.

No doubt I’m gonna be rocking some Clark 1s.
I’m assuming they’ll be similar to the Kobe’s performance wise as that’s her favorite shoes to ball in.

I said the same thing about Nike failing to capitalize on Deion's hype last year and putting out retro models of which they may or may not have older molds still around.

To get her a sig by the start of this year means they would have had to start on it at this time last year. I wonder if the future of 3D printing / AI might be able to build signature shoes faster.

They reeeeaallly dropped the ball by not having Wemby a shoe his entire rookie season. Biggest prospect in 2 decades. I guess they feel like they've made enough money.

Is Wemby in the zeitgeist like that though? If he were an American maybe, but his exposure in the states was never really very big to garner a sig shoe.

I see a lot of ignorant folks trying to come with the jokes about her kicks but fail to realize Sabrina Ionescu’s kicks are being rocked hard by a lot of folks from the nba to schools. They’ll learn soon enough. I know I’m up for a pair to try out.

If they’re giving her an eight figure contract it would be a pretty dumb investment to come with a weak shoe.

Was having this very conversation with someone earlier today. Sabrina is the standard and if Caitlin's shoe is anywhere close to as nice, it's gonna go like hotcakes.

Could also set up a decent run by Nike if the Sabrina 2s match the success of the 1, and Clark has a good 1st model.

I’m interested to see just how hot Nike can get when players like JuJu at USC, Johnson from LSU and Fulwiley from South Carolina all come out.

I think they got it right. GT Hustle was a good choice for him, then you can build off that. Nobody remembers Tim Duncan’s sigs, but they remember the Foamposite Max. Also wore Vis Uptempos and Flightposites.

But Wemby has a different skill set, so I think the GT Hustle was a good baseline.

Had a chat with someone today who told me this shoe is "1000% done," and the claim is that unless there was some sort of complication during wear testing or production that he's unaware of, he fully expects her to be wearing it when the season starts. Now, whether that's accurate or not, I can't say. Just passing along what I was told.

I would tend to believe that. If they were forward thinking and saw the buzz around her after her junior season they would have started developing the shoe right away.

I’m sure she took meetings with Curry and adidas as a courtesy knowing full well she’s hanging with Nike. The amount of swag Nike has presented her and her team is enviable. Sabrina delivered shoes personally to them during the Final Four. Kobe’s wife even gifted them all a pair of Kobe 8 Venice Beach recently too.

Eight figure deal, but they can’t sell me a jersey until August…..

CAITLIN CLARK SIGNING EIGHT-YEAR $28 MILLION DEAL WITH NIKE

According to ESPN reports, Caitlin Clark is on the verge of finalizing a lucrative eight-year contract worth $28 million with Nike. As part of this agreement, there are plans for a signature shoe to be developed in the future. Additionally, Clark is poised to play a significant role in Nike’s Basketball division brand campaigns, leveraging her status as one of the more marketable athletes within Nike’s roster.

Over the course of the eight-year deal, there’s speculation that Clark could emerge as a prominent figure not only in the WNBA but also for Team USA.

Unsurprisingly, there was considerable interest in securing Clark’s endorsement, resulting in something akin to a bidding war. Despite the competition, it seemed inevitable that she would align with Nike. Factors such as brand loyalty and financial incentives played a pivotal role in her decision-making process. Under Armour put forth an offer of $16 million over four years, while Adidas offered $6 million over the same period, albeit with signature shoes included in both deals. However, Nike’s proposal surpassed these offers in both duration and monetary value.

Conversely, talks with PUMA ceased after it became apparent that their starting bid of $3 million per year fell significantly short of expectations.

Nike can really put a lot of marketing between her and Sabrina vs the splash brothers next NBA All-Star weekend. Hell, the entire NBA can too by hyping up the Splash Bros. reuniting for one night that weekend to take them on:lol
