Your guy was definitely going to be wrong with his guess because it's been confirmed her first signature model wasn't even going to be available for herself in time for the start of the season.
That makes me wonder at what part of the season will they finally be on her feet.

She just signed the deal, it takes time to make the shoe... we likely aren't going to see prototypes until spring 2025 at minimum

I don’t understand these peoples’ need to rush to have her shoe. She wasn’t signed to Nike until the beginning of her senior year and then she basically played ball for a full year with the end of the WNBA season being her only “free time”. Now is the time she’s finally able to focus on her shoe.
She’s had ZERO opportunity to wear test, etc a new design. Knowing what type of person she is she wouldn’t put her name on a shoe unless it was something she felt comfortable wearing on court.
She’s only ever worn two shoes in her college and professional career and that’s the Kobe 5s and 6s. There’s no way she allows Nike to release her shoe until it’s completely right for her and her elite basketball standards.

It really isn't that serious, this sounds like Nike marketing
They are probably just gonna replicate a Kobe cushioning setup that she is used to, just like they did with Booker, and try to hit a certain price point
She doesn't need some crazy cushioning set up. If she isn't comfortable with the shoe, Nike will just make her an alternate version for herself and sell the regular pair for the public
For example Sabrina's shoes look like have a different mold from retail pairs

The difference is they know what they have in Clark. Her popularity is double or triple that of Sabrina or Book. If they’re smart they’ll build a campaign around her to maximize profits. Some old take downs ain’t gonna cut it. Look what’s happened to the brand under that strategy…

Dude her casual non sneaker head fanbase she has doesn't give a **** if her shoe has full length Zoom Strobel or not.
The tech on the shoe just has to be decent for performance wear, not high end or ground breaking
It just has to look good, and be affordable

Booker wanted the shoe like that. That is what he asked for. Before his sig he wore Kobes just like Clark
The dude that did his shoe used to do Kobes, Kyries, does KDs, Sabrina, A'ja and does the Ja Sig.
He is might be doing hers too.
Kobes are not some out of this world design.
Making her a shoe that is as good as the Sabrina 1 would be a good target for her.

I think Nike is actively trying to go a different direction than what they've been doing for the past few years. Hill in his interview said they created a team specifically for women's basketball which didn't exist before. They're going to take their time with it which is a smart decision. With that being said, they better be dropping these before the start of the 2025 WNBA season, waiting til '26 or further would be a dumb move.
