MEXICO CITY (AP) A strong, long 7.6 earthquake with an epicenter in Guerrero state shook central southern Mexico on Tuesday, swaying buildings in Mexico City and sending frightened workers and residents into the streets.

The U.S. Geological Survey set the intensity at 7.6 and said the epicenter was 11 miles underground. Mexico's National Seismological Survey said the temblor had an epicenter southwest of Ometepec and was felt strongly in Oaxaca.

Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard's Twitter account said the water system and other ``strategic services'' were not experiencing problems.

``I have problems with pressure, I felt I was going to faint,'' said Rosa Maria Lopez Velazquez, 62, outside a mall in Mexico City.

There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries. Telephone service was down in the city and throughout the area where the quake was felt.

A 6.7 aftershock occurred about 25 minutes after the quake.

so far it looks like there's no casualties reported. thank god

my friend, a conspiracy theorist type of guy, was saying some @!#% about an earthquake on the 22nd of this month.
put that @!#% on the back of my mind but there was a 7.3 earthquake on march 9th in japan and then on the 11th it was the 9.0 one.
@!#% is scary.

God bless my family in Guerrero. Crazy thing is my dad left to Mexico this evening. May God continue to look over him.

still no reports of death or serious injury, even after a less powerful, magnitude-5.1 aftershock was felt in the capital and several other aftershocks near the epicenter in a mountainous rural region.
