THQ have today announced that WWE legend The Rock has won the battle, and the auspicious honour of gracing the cover of the collector’s edition of WWE 12, the forthcoming release from the renowned WWE gaming franchise. In a face-off against John Cena, his opponent in the main event at next year’s WrestleMania XXVIII, The Rock was selected by voters in a franchise-first opportunity to choose a cover Superstar for a WWE videogame.

And if you voted for anyone else for the cover, don’t fret too much because ultimately IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!

The WWE 12 Collector’s Edition is slated to include the following material:

• Foil sleeve cover packaging featuring The Rock
• Copy of WWE ’12 videogame
• The Rock playable in-game character
• WWE Blu-Ray/DVD featuring:

1. WWE Championship Match – Booker T vs. The Rock – SummerSlam – 19th August, 2001

Living legend's are guys like Angle and Sting people who actually put a dent in an era of wrestling. Name me a Scott Steiner monumental moment?? I got several Angle and Sting moments I can name easily off the top of my head.

What does longevity have to do with main eventing? Besides that, Steiner was in the Main Event as early as 91 only to be held back by politics. Angle won't even be wrestling in 10 years. Steiner has ten years on him. That argument is null and void. Sting? Okay, yeah sorry he can't compare to arguably one of the greatest of ALL time. He's a Iconic name on a short list of wrestlers who can say they never disappointed. 

Monumental moment? He's had an amazing career. That's monumental for any professional wrestler. Give me a break.

- WWE's website has a new storyline article up looking at possible successors to Triple H, should he lose to CM Punk at Night of Champions and be forced to resign as COO. The "possible replacements" they list are Shawn Michaels, John Laurinaitis, Stephanie McMahon, Teddy Long, Zack Ryder and the Anonymous RAW General Manager.

I liked the Punk/HHH segment except for Phil dropping govt names. I means let's face it, back in 1999-2001 him doing that might have been a big deal. Its 2011 everyone pretty much knows in real life HHH and CM Punk are stage names. The mics cutting out was a nice touch, I liked the crotch chop mocking he did, I was waiting for him to say pipe bomb, but by not it kind of kept the serious nature of the segment in a sense...

Just watched the last segment... thought it was great... didn't feel like it went to long cause the two kept getting my interest level up... makes me want to watch NOC... I mean I wont, but I do want to...

Here's the real problem with the closing segment (and many of the segments leading to now). I talked to my younger cousin about it. He had NO idea what HHH and Punk were talking about. In fact, the only part of the segment he even cared about was when Punk talked about the ice cream bars. I really suspect that this is the same for many of those that watch Raw. Everyone online thinks everyone who watches Raw knows all the insider references that are dropped, but in reality, the internet fans make up less than 10% of WWE's audience. Most fans are not only lost by what Punk/HHH say, but they really don't care. It's fine to work in a few insider references from time to time, but when the entire segment/program is based around it, it's not a good thing and you're approaching TNA booking.

Again, I revert to the original Punk promo two months ago. First, it was 6:30 minutes. Second, with the exception of mentioning Colt Cabana (his friend) and ROH and NJPW (other pro wrestling organizations), there were no real insider references. And even those were broad enough that even a dumb fan could understand what Punk was talking about.
