I can honestly say I haven't been doing my research, mainly because I have insurance already through my employer and I'm taking a blind leap of faith that my coverage won't change - per what Obama's been preaching for the past several years.

I'll add more to the original post as enrollments open and there's more feedback about the process, benefits, costs, etc etc....

To those that are uninsured, what are your plans for October 1st?

Got a memo at work about this, but like you, we won't be affected. I'm very intrigued about the costs though, I know too many ppl running around without insurance.

Haven't looked into it yet, but plan to this weekend. I have insurance through my job as well, but if I can save some money, why not?

Interested about it too.I don't know in depth too much about it.Great idea for a useful thread.Hope we get some good info in here.Repped

I need to take time to read up on why so many politicians are trying to get rid of it before it even starts.

The complaint I hear most is that if employers with over 50 full-time works don't provide care, they'll be fined. So to combat that, they'll start cutting hours so people are no longer full-time.

It's amazing that some are calling it a violation of civil liberties to force people to be insured, lol... that is ******g outregous. Bruh, we don't need you out here all sick and **** spreading the plague cz you can't afford medicine. A healthy workforce is a better workforce.

Sometimes I'm convinced the good ol' boys just want people with no money and old people to just ******g die already. **** keeping them healthy.

ummm why would you volunteer on being a guinea pig on something that isn't implemented 100%?

if ya haven't checked da news its basically a trainwreck.....

as we speak both houses are headed towards a government shutdown because of this issue...

^That makes no sense.

Its not socialized medicine, its not a government institution employing doctors. Its a ******g insurance exchange with subsidies to make it cheaper for different income brackets. Ultimately if more people have insurance overall healthcare costs will go down.

This seems very simple to me.

If you DON'T have insurance and you DON'T check the insurance exchange you are an IDIOT.

Its really quite simple, use your brain, don't let cable news and ninjahood make your decision for you.

I mean why the **** wouldn't you want insurance?

I am from canada so the behavior of many Americans on this issue is really quite insane to me.

To point 1, how is anyone being a guinea pig? If you have ZERO insurance, why wouldn't you be anxious to sign up and get some coverage?  I could understand not wanting to SWITCH if you already have coverage until some feedback comes back.

To point 2, I watch the news at least 6 hours a day -- not always with the sound turned up, but it's always on.

To point 3, not going to happen. The Republicans been blowing smoke up people's *****. Typical threats and scare tactics.

1. because if you dont have insurance you can sign up for medicaid and not have to pay at all.

2. i watch da news 24/7..i stopped watching TV shows years ago (i've watched 3 episodes of breaking bad and da whole series is about to end)

3. obamacare is falling on its own sword by SEVERAL things:

-employers kicking down full time to part time to not have to cover people.

-people are losing da coverage they are already happy with

-MASSIVE amounts of people BEGGING and in some cases receiving waivers from obamacare regulation

-da delay of da worker mandate

I can't lie, everyone so far with this point of view sound like complete idiots to me. "It's gonna suck" is not a persuasive argument.

And props to my good guy employer, covering the health insurance increase for employees so it doesn't change.

the unintended consequences is gonna start popping up left and right. facism at its finest. combat it buy investing in the insurance companies that will profit off of it the most.

what happens now when people get sick is they run to the ER, because they have to be treated.

the ER charges triple the fee, patient never pays, and then people with insurance cover it when rates go up b/c the hospitals ain't taking that L on the chin.

I could be completely wrong, but it would seem to me like putting more patients being able to pay on the spot means more money and more jobs available to carry the load.  Opponents of the bill have said the opposite, that the quality of care will go down b/c doctor pay will go down. Maybe I'm naive in thinking that this would bring more dedicated health care professionals into the field.

I dunno man, there's a lot of reading I'll be doing over the weekend.

umm id you completely skim over my response?

plus..da MASSIVE gutting of medicare to fund obamacare..
It just  seems like you're stating opinions as facts w/o anything to back it up. So I honestly didn't really pay it any mind.

im surprised you're completely outta da dark on this whole issue and you got John Boehner as a avi...

The bill is a train wreck. Obama did a horrible job at selling it to the public, and that's one of the reasons nobody wants it. Literally NOBODY knows exactly what it will. The President said if you like your current plan, you can keep it. Studies have shown that was a lie. An in w recent interview the President changed his stance and started saying that current plans might change.

The whole bill is a cluster **** and I hope the House is able to get the delay of its implementation so more research can be done.

I already have health insurance btw.

It's funny that this thread came up. I've thought about doing my research about this and not sure whether to write it for my editorial or 10 page government paper.

You say "da" way too much to even take you seriously. I don't say that to be an *******, but being real.

You started off by saying people could "just sign up for medicaid", as if it's some free-for-all...

And how am I in the dark? I have insurance that isn't going to change, so it's doesn't affect me directly as of now. The main thing I need to educate myself on is what it means for everyone else around me. Like I said before, I don't see you providing facts, just basically re-tweeting the same talking points I've heard for months. At least I admit that I don't have all the facts.

The Boehner avi is a joke. He's a funny guy.

i suggest you do some homework before you suggest that people throw themselves into da line of fire that is this train wreck...

if you dont have insurance medicaid (IF you qualify) is better suited for your needs..and YES is IS free...thats da POINT.

and da way obamacare is gonna effect you? you might lose your coverage, or get cut down to part time, ot increase your

premiums, among other things.

such as?

the unintended consequence can be seen as negative or positive.

for example. more people are getting multiple part time jobs because their hours were cut to under 30 so that obamacare would apply to them. that in effect will make employers higher more part time people cause if 5 people used to be full time, we now got 10 people. it HELPS to get the unemployment down this way even though everyone is underemployed and what not.

the plan will seem great/cheap in the short run. but wait till it gets a few years in, we will see the disaster for what it is like social security.

I agree that people really have no idea how it will effect them, mainly those without coverage. But to their defense, these bills are a lot to digest. It's not a cut and dry A, B, C type presentation. There's a lot to read and sift through. Opponents of the bill also aren't making it easy for people to understand. To hear them tell it, everyone's going to die via Obamacare.

I just saw a poll that showed when the bill was called something other than "Obamacare", more people approved. Obama's name alone causes people to not like it and that's a sad American trait. We dislike by association way too easily.

Threatening to shut down the government was so stupid. Republicans stay losing and making the American people dislike them.

umm are you aware that this bill was shoved down passed and no one actually read it?

nancy pelosi is on record saying "you gotta pass it to see whats in it"

straight train wreck...
