Tumbled leather is an aftereffect, a process done to give it that look. It don't come straight off the animal that way, so there will always be variations. The sheen, shine, and texture of leather are all artificially created.
In this video the guy explains 2018s are real leather with an embossed tumbled texture, a process that does indeed involve synthetics like plastic. Plus faux leather on the other parts. We'll see if he does the 2024s.
