AIR JORDAN 3 BLACK CEMENT - NOVEMBER 23, 2024

With these sitting and the amount of returns happening, don’t be surprised if Nike starts making the releases more limited again.
Define sitting. Make double the pairs as the last release and only sell 80% of them on opening weekend and Nike is drastically cutting numbers? Like these will sit forever? Naaaah that isn’t adding up.

Yeah this isn’t “sitting.” What the Olympic 6’s are doing is sitting. Black cements will be all dried up within a couple of weeks. I do think production numbers are gonna get cut really soon though.

Damn, Mike shed a few pounds in the six years since we last seen him
No leg day, mike

Can’t see them drastically changing numbers on big releases like this and the annual XI. They’re meant to move big numbers even if they have to “sit” for weeks before drying up. I could see smaller releases getting production cut but not on an OG classic like this when they will indeed sell out 400-450k pairs before the year is over.

The Columbia release will tell me all I need to know about holiday releases going forward. I think those are gonna actually be on the shelf well into 2025. If that happens I can see them cutting back. Nothing crazy but instead of a million pairs maybe 750k. Just enough to make it look good.

That’s kind of my point. 750k XI’s next year is more than all but 3-4 XI releases ever. Nike pumped up the numbers so much anything that doesn’t sell out now looks like the sky is falling to n00bs and non-thinkers. But the revenue continues to increase exponentially and make those views look pretty silly. 7B this year compared to 2.8B when this shoe last retro’d. 2.5x growth over 6 years is insane.

I agree with you my only concern is if these releases do get cut by let’s say 1/4 production because that’s what 250k would be, these easy cops would be a lot more difficult probably on par with like 5 years ago. Right before the pandemic and it really got out of hand. I do think Nike likes to have that first day sellout to drive hype with certain products. Kids are stupid and if there is pairs on the shelf 3 days after the release all of a sudden it’s a “flop” and it’s not cool anymore.

People might end up only getting two pairs with minimum effort instead of 4-6. I also think the strategy would never be as simple as hacking 25% off the top. It’d be across models with other variables mixed in. Are they going to cut WC IV quantities cause Bc3’s didn’t sell out on day one? Not a chance and they’re dropping double the number of IVs next year vs this year.

Releases like court purple XII’s, Olympic VI’s, ochre yellow whatever BS, powder IX’s, burgundy and olive V’s… those are the overproduced cws that have sat over the past year besides 1’s.

SNKRS pair will be here tomorrow

Hopefully no glue stains on the elephant print like my shock drop pair

Also I had no idea Nike had a warehouse near Dallas

And I think it’s as simple as that. Stop dropping all of these filler colorways. Instead of releasing 4-5 retros every month just drop 1 or 2 bangers. Market over saturation.

Yeah I’d argue the 5-10 monthly JB retros has killed the hype a lot more than BC3’s not selling out across the board in one weekend.

By almost any metric this release along with the MB IV’s and Bred IV reimagineds have been highly successful retros this year. Starving people on releases and then moving 300-500k retros of an OG classic is probably a better strategy not just for Nike but their partners who play a big role in the appearance of sellouts and hype.

Every time I order from SNKRS I get stuck on “preparing shipment” for at least a week…sometimes longer.

…every time.
