Air Jordan 5 OG “Black Metallic” Reimagined 2025 !

We all might still be seeing fall out from the previous regime but the whole conselstion prize strategy is dead. Atleast at the enthusiast level. Missing out on what they want in most cases isn’t going to compel them to buy something less desirable like it used to do in the past. People want what they want and will simply move on to the next thing on the list. The second Nike internalizes that fact and represents it in actual market strategy the better off we’ll be. Making these hard to get isn’t suddenly going to make 5s or the brand more desirable, it’s just going to breed contempt. That doesn’t mean everything has to be holiday Jordan 11 quantities, but Nike knows what balance looks like.

Because it will bring back the popularity and demand to Nike and JB. Jordan’s were somewhat of a status symbol, back when they first released for the first time. Everybody at your school, job, or on the streets weren’t stocked up with Jordan’s in their closet, like how people have them today.

It was due to the simple fact, that back then, people simply couldn’t justify paying that price for them back then. Think of it like this, Jordan’s in the 80’s and early 90’s, were the equivalent to seeing a kid at school with a pair of $900 - $1400 Louis V Tennis shoes Today. When I was growing up, maybe 2 to 6 kids out of the entire school had on Jordan’s, on the initial release day.

Most would only buy them after they would go on sale, a few months afterwards. You go to any school nationwide right now, the entire school is flooded with retros now. I love Jordan’s, but they have become somewhat played out to a certain extent, because in the past 15 to 20 years or so, they just flooded the shoe market out, simply because of greed for money.

Which watered down the brand. Nike had no choice, but to start cutting back on the production of pairs being made. Because the general consensus of the 2020’s is that Jordan’s are played out, and everybody has them nowadays, and there’s nothing mystique about having them, in comparison to how it use to be.

I’ve read th they’re cutting back on production, because of the cost for the manufacturing process. But if i was a betting man, I’d bet the negative talk about other brands being more popular today, because of limited releases, and cheaper prices, came in as a factor to them as well.

It’s just a better business model/move, to bring back the it crowd to their shoes. Limited availability today, is the equivalent to paying $150 to $300 for tennis shoes in 80’s and early 90’s. It’s just that today, more people are willing to pay $200 to $300 for shoes, because a lot more people today have way more disposable income.

I’m sure Nikes marketing team knows all of this, from what I’ve heard in the past. They analyze everything I just said. So common sense, when something becomes common and not as popular as it once was. Cut back on availability a little bit, raise the price a little bit, and watch the mystique and demand automatically increase and come back.

N Neocortex you gonna love this post.

Might just bite the bullet and pay resale now if I really want these. $100 over retail is the lowest I see them going for. Debating if these are even worth it to me to pay resale for and if the sake of convenience is worth spending $100 extra for instead of dealing with all the hassle on release day. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔😩

I wasn’t completely sold on these as is, so if I strike out for retail cause they are too limited I’m ok. Even though the flu games aren’t that much of an improvement I’m more looking forward to those.

I actually liked when pairs were sitting and you can just easily cop. If stock is gonna be limited again, we’re back to competing against bots and cook groups…sigh
Like I mentioned in my post, Nike knows what balance looks like. Military blues are long gone from retail shelves, but they’re going for just about retail men sizes on the secondary market. same can be said for the bred 4 reimagined. Thats what balance looks like. Nike just has to spread the releases out a little more and add some filler and people will be a happy.

I don’t think the demand for military blues was like the demand for these…

I said this same thing and got called a troll and other names... I don't agree with it as a sneakerhead but looking at it from Nike's perspective, I totally get it.

And I’m not saying they should release the same number of these as the military blues otherwise the whole spiel about balance wouldn’t make much sense. Balance is relative.
I think Nike should quit with the filler stuff like the Jordan 5 earth they just released and give the people more of the classics we all want to see drop again. And make those classics readily available.

Gotta stop right there. You’re already so lost if you think Jordan’s aren’t in demand. It’s the illusion of larger production runs, but the sales numbers don’t lie. Jordan Brand can’t be making record revenue and growing year after year and demand be down. They’re selling 10x the volume they were in 2015. They could have a down year and still be slangin twice as many shoes this year compared to a decade ago.

Nike’s problem isn’t JB. It’s all right in front of your face if you look at the financials. So your entire premise is flawed and you don’t even sound like you have the slightest clue.

Nike is more than capable of making good non OG retro plus colorways. That just need to NOT do 3 things.

1) make them unobtainable collabs
2) make them only in womens sizing
3) rehash the same themes over and over. We don’t need 17 “color” thunder 4s in a 2 year time span.

Plenty of retro+ color ways will and have gone down as classics. Nike just has the habit of testing how long they can shove low effort releases down our throats before things stop selling.

I’ve always been an on to the next one type of person but I get extra salty sometimes

This year I’m gonna work on being less salty

What struggles do you have obtaining shoes? Genuinely interested as I had the same issue when I first got back into it during 2021.

I just hate having to enter a bunch of raffles and get sneakers for retail based on luck. Just make enough for everyone. It’s a freaking GR lol
