Air Jordan III Colorway?

Here is a good topic and actually quite curious. I was bored and sufing the web when I went to the Jordan brand website to look at the History of the Air Jordans, I came across the retro 3. http://www.nike.com/jumpman23/index.html#/history... all the shoes are OG except the 3's. And the thing is its a great colorway. Anybody want to explain this??

http://www.nike.com/jumpman23/index.html, if the link dont work go to the Jordan webiste and History tab not sure about the 6's being Infrared, they are the black/red. FYI this history was put on the website about 3-5 years ago...
