This is my issue: the crowd you're talking about is low-hanging fruit. It's easy to target the religious right, white supremacists, and gun nuts. No reasonable person is down with any of this. However, when it comes to the left jumping the shark you get apologists like yourself.
I'm sure not all liberals are down with this. Hell, I'm sure a ton of liberals aren't down with this...but I'm ****-sure no conservative is cosigning this.

My over-arching point is that there's a subset of the left that has gone absolutely crazy and more liberals/leftists should be distancing themselves from this crowd if they want to be taken seriously by moderates.

This isn't a pissing contest. I'm not here to defend the actions of white supremacists or bible-thumping closet cases because there is no defense for those individuals. I just think there needs to be a greater acknowledgement from the left (particularly those from educational institutions) when members of their base start to extend past the bounds of reason.

There are a ton of reasonable people that voted for Trump, despite the white supremacy, despite the white nationalism. There are a ton of reasonable people, especially conservatives and moderates, that support things policy that these low hanging fruit love.
