what it all still comes down to is having Kidd/Felton/Pablo run the point over Lin/Bibby/Douglas/Baron. Thats about 100 smarter decisions and 15 less turnovers.

Btw, I like Brewer, but I still rather play James White. Brewer just seems too scared sometimes (specially in the paint), hopefully he's still a bit rusty.

I don't think White is as good of a defender as Brewer. You're right about him not being as aggressive offensively as White would be though. You have to take the bad with the good.

Knicks second unit should look like this:

PG- Kidd/Pablo
SG- J.R. Smith
SF- Novak
PF- Kurt Thomas
C- Camby

I'm not sure if Woodson is going to keep Kidd as our starting SG. When Shumpert comes back, i'd expect him to start.

Melo is def going to play the 4 until Amare comes back, but I think we should keep him with the second unit. I don't think Amare would take a role as a second unit kind of guy, but for the teams best interest maybe it's a good idea.

Brewer only got the start because we played a smaller team, but what happens when we play bigger teams like Philly and LA?

I want to see where we stack up against the Celtics. Should be interesting to watch.

Hey man sometimes it ends up like that. The way I see it, Brewer is just keeping Shump's seat warm. I can't think of anything he does that Shump can't do or doesn't do better, then you add in his youth.

From what I've seen of him he's teetering on bum status at times, bout to be the wing defender version of Jared Jeffries. So ppl will think why not give White a chance, maybe this time that he's made a roster he'll thrive because of it.

We shall see.

I know I've been harsh on the knicks and Melo, but I want to give them props for last night. They played incredible basketball and the city needed that distraction for a couple of hours.

Great game.

Shooting over 50% from 3-PT and making a ridiculous amount of them won't happen often but I'm more impressed with our ball movement and PG's. Loving Felton and Jason Kidd, they move the ball and split the defenses, giving Carmelo and the team easier opportunities. (Amare can benefit from this, wish he was out there)

The negatives - Carmelo still getting trigger happy at times, needs to tone down the pull-up 3-PT shots. JR Smith just needs to tone it down in general.

The Defense was extremely impressive, we did a great job.

But felton looks like he will be in mid season form before mid season. I actually am hype for Amare to come back . All he needs is a good PG. He has 3 . All he has to do is get set up in a right position to score.

It's not going to be raining 3s nightly but I have faith in the plays we run. Melo took a few bad shots. Jr made a couple ADD moves. But I'll take the good with the bad. Novak with the pump fake and side dribble helps immensely . Brewer hitting a jumper or 2 surprised me with that rugged *** hitch he got in his jumper.

Excellent, excellent basketball last night

I'm not a fan of shooting a lot of 3's...but all the 3's taken last night were from penetration and kickouts to the open man.  It was beautiful to watch.  The ball movement was outstanding.  Obviously, we have 3 awesome point guards this year.  Last year we had TD, an ancient Bibby, an injured BD, and your favorite...Jeremy Lin.  

(Speaking of...every single clown that went on and on and on about Jeremy Lin and how inept the Knicks front office was for their decision to take Felton instead....SHOW YOURSELF)

This team is beyond deep, and all offseason I've had to listen to friends repeat the same trash they say in the news and on TV.  "Knicks are too old, Knicks are too old!  They're gonna need AARP!"  But age isn't a problem when the Clippers pick up Grant Hill, or the Lakers pick up Steve Nash.  

The Knicks are not the same team as any of the past 10 years, so it's really pointless to keep bringing up their past failures.  This team right HERE...is 2 deep at every position.  They play defense, they're unselfish, and they know how to win.  When Shump comes back to the starting line up...I think Kurt Thomas will get less minutes.  A bench with Kidd/Pablo/JR/Sheed/Camby/Brewer/Novak/Thomas/White/Copeland is absolutely disgusting.  How people have been so dismissive of this kind of collection of players is hilarious to me.  It's only the first game...

But for anyone to have expected the Knicks to suck this year and not compete at all with this kind of roster...those people were simply hating and not talking from a basketball perspective.
