So I have a 1 year lease at my place in order to attend graduate school. My lease is up at the end of July

My landlord has been scheduling showings of my place for about 3 weeks now....mostly when I wasn't there because of spring break and my class schedule.

In my lease it stipulates this:

" The landlord or his manager may, upon reasonable notice (if possible), enter the apartment/house for purposes of inspection, repair and maintenance, or to show premises."

Now this dude contacts me today that he's gonna show my place tomorrow at 4pm.

My question is, as a first time renter can I just tell him that I want him to only show the place when I'm there just in case anything gets misplaced and whatnot....basically how do I say that I rather be there for these showings....just in case a situation should arise that my computer or something of value gets taken?

Any help is appreciated!
 
I mean you can't do that and a landlord should be with the party at all times

That's part of renting
 
So there is no way of telling him that these "showings" should be on the weekend?

Do I have any rights in this situation?
 
I think in Cali they have to give you 24 hours notice and they have to be with the showing party at all times.

Other than that you're out of luck.
 
It seems like you don't have any explicit rights, but that doesn't matter. If you speak to dude in a proper way, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to work with you.
 
It's so easy for someone to swipe an iPod or phone in situations like this. Just tell him you'd feel much comfortable if the showings happened while you are there.
 
i'm pretty sure they have to give you a 24-hour notice to enter your apartment. And they don't even need your consent to show it? Wtf :lol: I thought people volunteered to have their apartments modeled.

If your landlord doesn't want to amend the time just make sure you lay out a bunch of porn and satanic material all over your room. Pretty sure the people coming to your place will bug out.

...Or maybe they won't :lol:
 
What state are you located in? and Yes you have a right, hell make the place look like crap so he doesn't do it again. Is you're place pretty clean usually? That may be a reason why they'd use it.
