i'm guessing that 5-6k is w/o dental insurance?

like other dude said, implants are major procedures. it aint nothing to mess with. it requires precise drilling into the gum. drill a mm too deep and there goes your nerves (and any feeling around the area where that nerve was working).

No but my boy went to Mexico to get a nose job about 8 years ago. It was going to be about 5 thousand here, he ended up getting it for a few hundred in Mexico. Took a month to heel no scars or problem.

ok, now this is helpful.  it is my top front left, or #9 I believe.  I have to have an extraction cus it has a failed/rejected root canal.  my dentist recommended being put under for it since the base is so fractured/friable that it will likely disintegrate upon removal.  so it will be a multi-stage process: extraction, implant, crown, which (on top of all the other scary possibilities) makes going down there for it even less attractive.  I live in Portland, Oregon so it's not like it's a couple hours away.  but man $5-6k for a tooth.  all this just makes me feel old

anyhow, thanks filthy  there are usually a few people on here who have reasonable advice

oh and for all those who found the topic/SN amusing, my name is also Tim if that gives your exciting lives more lulz...  that is if you can even figure out why that is funny
well damn i was thinking it was a posterior. im not sure if this is possible for #9 but ask about a maryland bridge. 6k for an implant is a deal they usually run bout 10. i might be able to provide you with info on some of the best doctors in your area. ill try and get back to you

NikeTalker23 - well said, I agree..
CaptainCrown - I hadn't thought of that. I will ask around and see what my options are. thanks for the suggestion
Hugo - yes, you are right. but I have been told by good friends that have elderly friends/relatives that have got work done recently with no problem. but def something I have considered
LaSevenTrees - aren't you clever. yuck, yuck
Kicktionair - did you really ask for a pic of my grill? there is no gold or platinum guy. just some cracked teeth. and this is a new SN. I got my old one from '07 banned. but I like this name better anyhow

Filthy - I will ask about that. thanks for the info. the $6k estimate is very rough. I haven't got a full quote for the extraction/implant from the surgeon yet. oh and what are your thoughts on doing it through insurance? from what I understand insurance won't cover a lot of it... but seriously, thank you very much for the information. I do appreciate it and know that there is really no reason for you to help out other than you must be a good person.  thanks boss!

My brother got braces at Rocky Point because it was way cheaper than getting it done in the US.
but why people acting like Mexico is complete trash?
