My boys and I were just talking about this...we have a friend who is JUST like George Costanza. The best part about it is that he's never watched Seinfeld,so he doesn't even know what he's becoming.
First off, his hairline is receding. He has a hard time getting dates, so I set him up with the friend of mine. He wore a hat on the date, and refused to takethe hat off. It wasn't even like a stylish/trendy hat, it was a tattered Red Sox cap. She told me he adamantly refused to remove his hat when she asked himto.
Next, he does things to attract attention to himself. He takes the subway a lot and he carries around a book. He sits on the subway and "reads". Weknow he does it to appear intellectual and attract women who like those types. He recently brought the book to a friend's apartment and we all asked himwhat the book was about. He hadn't a clue. He knows that we know why he does it, and he laughs about it too. Such a George thing to do.
He works in finance, but he lingers all day long and can't really describe what he does. I'm sure he does his job well (because he hasn't beenfired), but he doesn't really know what he's doing. He files his papers, makes his calls, blah blah, but he really doesn't know what it's for.
Lastly, he was in a relationship that ended a few years ago. He wasn't really happy with her, but didn't want to break up because he thought she wasthe best he'd ever get. Out of nowhere, his girlfriend's family's business went under and she had to move back to her hometown, and thusly endedtheir relationship. Since they were together since college, we thought he'd be heartbroken, but he seemed pretty relieved to be out of a relationship witha woman we thought would be his wife.
I don't get to hang out with him much (although I wish I did, because he will occasionally go off on long diatribes about christmas ornaments or triple-Abatteries, and they are quite entertaining), but my friends and I always end up in stitches when we compare his real-life happenings to Seinfeld episodes.
