I backed up my snow leopard harddrive contents on an external and i have a .dmg disk image file.  I then partitioned my internal harddrive to install windows for school work.
My question is, I don't really want to put everything from that .dmg into my new snow leopard (that is at a brand new state). I just want a few programs that I installed and some other stuff. Is it possible just to grab those programs and will they already be installed?  Thank you!

cliffnotes: Can I obtain backed up/installed programs from an external harddrive (backed up entire internal via .dmg) and place it on my internal (and will it be already installed)?

**searched over 20 pages and couldn't find official thread.

It's best to reinstall it again so the applications can function better. So I would install instead of dragging applications from your hard drive to internal.

Hmm.. so by that they still work, they just MAY not work as well...

If I just restore my entire .dmg, it won't mess with the windows partition that I didn't have when I created the .dmg right?
