who uses NFC?
exactly.
oh so when apple comes out with something its innovative.. but when its made by someone else its "who uses that? that tech is way too far ahead of out time"... yeah ok... nfc, just wait to see what tech tiles can do, google wallet, already sharing files and so on... just because apple doesnt have it yet or made it, its not a bad thing to start having new technology..

Don't even bother explaining to them. Like I said before, they think passbook is superior to NFC. :lol

I'm saying though. I've had a Galaxy Nexus for about 3 months. I've used NFC twice, and that was only because I had to use it to spend the $10 credit I got from Google Play. Since then, using it has never crossed my mind again.

The truth is that while NFC is cool tech, to the average consumer it just isn't a dealbreaker/maker. Could it be in the future? Sure. But we're not there yet, so not including it in the iphone 5 is whatever, IMO.

All it is now is something that fanboys can brag about having, knowing damn well it isn't something crucial to everyday usage. The fact that I had to look up where I can use NFC says it all for me.

I can upgrade from my old EVO in December. Is this better than the EVO LTE/Galaxy S3 or should I hold out and wait for something else?

who uses NFC?
exactly.
I use it all the time to share info with my friends and family who have relatively new Android devices. It's cool as hell to be able to share a game or cool app by tapping the phones together.

guess its handy when you dont have a data connection or wifi, but if someone wants a game or app, I tell em the name of it and they dl it.

glad i dont use maps... at all otherwise id be crying a river like some of you.
not a big deal at all, a map costs $2. go buy one

so you got an iphone 5? I remember u asking how to get it for cheap. Teach me things 8o

no i didnt get one.... yet

im waiting to sprint gets get instock online, i was gonna port my numbers over but it was like 3 weeks to a month til they would ship so it would be useless to order one now and be without a phone.

plug it in restore and when it asks if you want to set up as new iPhone or restore from back up find the back up of your phone

My gf has an 4S through Sprint and the clarity is terrible. I don't know if that's a network issue or a phone issue. Not to mention the number of times her phone drops calls, but that's more of a location problem.

in my area sprint has very good service so thats another reason to consider them. as long as i got unlimited data and the iphone 5 then im good.

Where do you shop that takes NFC payments? Serious question. Very few businesses have the infrastructure necessary to securely accept NFC payments. An NFC chip is useless if nobody takes your payments. NFC chips may have other functions, but the money is in payments. And that is what will drive its acceptance.

Word. My Visa card had it. I tried it at a BP gas station long ago and it could never get it right and I would end up swiping my card anyway. NFC sounds cool and all but there is no real world (USA) applications for it to be a necessary thing. Hopefully a year or two from now it will pop.

Mobile payments will. It may not necessarily be NFC though. I expect the iPhone two generations from now will have some form of mobile payment that gets incorporated into Passbook. Outside chance for inclusion in next year's phone.

I think my VIsa card has it too. Is "blink" considered nfc? I used it once at Office Max, the cashier told me to just put my card in front of the scanner so I didn't need to swipe my card. I don't need people telling me I need it if i'm not even going to use it right now.

Mobile payments need fingerprinting technology first before I would feel completely comfortable with using it. Fingerprint lock the home button and I'm good.

the thing about nfc implementation though is that apple has a huge market; if apple put nfc into the iphone 5, nfc would be a bigger part of our lives. them leaving it out is slowing the progress of the technology.
