Asics Love?!? Where is it?

All the reseller shops and traplords been going ham past year out this way wit em so I had to see what was up. Copped the gt 2160 black pure silver. Jawns is crazy. It's crazy seeing shops making more money with em than jordans. Times are changing. I do wonder how long the younger crowd will keep digging em. Asicss doesn't need em to survive but I'm sure they love all the sales and attention.

Hate I missed these.

How do the black/silver 2160s look in person? Can you post a pic? I wanted to buy a pair of black/silver kayanos but these might be a good alternative.

IMO the trend will die quick and hard. I don't get it myself, because as a runner these shoes were ugly back then and still ugly now. But like I said that's just my opinion.

The trend will continue because a whole wave of people have shifted from Nike/JB, to brands like new balance and asics due to quality and comfort. These brands offer practicality and versatility for everyday wear when you’re on the go.

Nice Formosas. Don't see those very often

I have the OG Kayano 14 from like the 2000's and I still wear them as my gym shoes. I got them when I was still working at footlocker and I sold a ton of these mesh Asics runners at that time.

People been wearing ASICS for what they were intended for as far back as I can remember when I saw they started to become trendy I was actually a little surprised.

Agree, my post is in line with what bnice said. The sentiment was, "Man these are ugly, but they are great running shoes."

Outside of maybe the Pegasus line Nike shoes weren't considered "real" running shoes.

This why I switched to mainly ASICS an Saucony. Also my foot surgery last April. Those brands feel way better on my bad heel. Basically can’t wear sb dunks anymore.

But yet it’s hype and jumping on trends. These brand switches are necessary for some people for the health and comfort of their feet. After a 16 hr shift in boots AF1s ain’t going to cut it, nothing like slipping into some runners after.

Used to work part-time in an Asics store while still in school and it was when the Kayano 14s were the current version of the runners.

Didn't mind how they looked then but never splurged on such a high end pair of runners that were gonna get thrashed, so really don't mind that they're released as a everyday sneaker now.

Copped a pair of the white/red Ayrton Sennas will post pics when have them in hand.

I remember when I first got into running (2010s), I got tired of wearing some retro Air Max 95s for my runs. I didn’t know any better LOL. I went and did some shopping at discount stores hoping to find some “real” running shoes. The ones that made the cut for me to actually trial were a Kayano XX model, a Mizuno Wave model, and a Vomero 4.

After a four mile test run in each, I ended up returning the Kayano and Mizuno, as they did not have that plushness I was looking for. I ultimately retained the Vomero. It later helped me with a few 20milers to complete my first race ever, the full marathon. I LOVED that shoe for how it felt and got me conditioned!

It’s pretty crazy that Y2K running performance sneakers are the IN thing now. I wouldn’t be surprised if the current Super Shoes will be worn casually in the next decade LOL

Your last sentence would blow my mind, vaporfly next % or metaspeeds as casual sneakers in 15 years.

I personally like the look of them but the way a lot of people wear them with all this ugly gaudy high end designer stuff isn’t a good look.

I, myself, have snd still do on occasion wear super shoes casually because they’re too comfy! LOL However, the ones I wear have a low profile; VaporFly Next%2 (Flyknit) and the Saucony Endorphin Pro 1-3. Pretty much all current ASICS performance all look similar and have that low profile too.

I haven’t worn any of the Metaspeed Sky or Edge series. casually though. However, their Novablast 3 or 4 are the ones that I wear the MOST casually.

I've always wanted to try the Novablast, but I'm not a big fan of rockers, especially for neutral shoes.
