Leo gets it in with chicks because he's a ++@%%*@ movie superstar, same with Denzel, and Wiz is on the up thanks to B&Y. Confidence is the main factor, no doubt, but you cant tell me that if OP walked up to Adriana without a hat he may have had more confidence, if for no other reason than because he has nothing to hide behind. And she may have felt more comfortable.
