Can someone explain why ppl are stating their ethnicity in reference to a rice cooker?

Because it matters, proper rice cookers are a big part of the culture.
Srs?

Don't know why this is so hard to believe. When something is a big part of a person's day-to-day life, it makes sense to invest in something to make life easier/better.
I'm asking if he's serious about a steamer being part of culture .. not about eating rice everyday. Calm down I'm trying to learn not offend.

I'm pretty calm.

If eating rice every day is a part of one's culture, the apparatus used to prepare the rice would be included, wouldn't it?

I've personally seen mad people either take pride in their rice cooker or show love to someone's baller rice cooker.

Seriously, got a glimpse of it when I was looking for a basic rice cooker and ended up in the world of rice cookers with the asian influence. Had me looking for **** with fuzzy logic like I knew what the hell that meant.

Yea Hispanic families don't really use cookers, Just a big pot. The best would be when Abuela makes that Rice Pudding in the big pot, that would last days. :smokin

I'm white, but an Asian told me to rinse it three times so dambit I do. Yeah you gotta rinse your rice. Sometimes soak it depending on the rice. The finger method is solid. Or 2:1 adjusted for the rice. Cooking rice is trial and error. More than 50 ways to skin this cat.

Anyone have a :hat kanji/congee recipe? I'm talking about the over cooked rice soup. I'm sure it's all over Asia under many different names.
