This is ever happen to anyone you guys? Like I haven't used that ATM card online in a good while for anything.

I just got home and Im going to check all my accounts, hope my social security number wasn't compromised either.

Any advice to protect myself online and in general? I`m thinking I`m going to dedicate 1 credit card for online stuff.

That's messed up bro. I've heard stories of people that work at random stores quickly taking a picture of your card. This online stuff is lightweight shifty business; inputting sensitive information onto a supposedly safe site. Hope things work out for you fam.

Happened to me smh, I'm in the DMV and someone in NYC used my card for $400 at Toys R Us. Luckily they knew that wasn't normal for me and shut my card down.

Happened to my sister, mother, and father. Contact your bank, let them know to void all purchases, make sure they contact that stolen id authorities so they can keep track of this just in case whoever stole your id goes to other banks to get more credit cards. Be adamant that it's not you and don't pay for anything you didn't purchase.

If that person successfully sells your atm info to a pro and your SSN gets acquired you're in for a bothersome ordeal.

Small box that stores card info once swiped. Not saying that's what happened to you but I've heard of people stealing from others using it. Thats why I always pay attention to cashiers and where they're swiping my card.

Happen to me once as well. I am in the DMV and somebody was using my information in Mexico. Got gas, lunch, and went shopping. Had charges of over $300 dollars probably would have been more but I hit an ATM to get some cash and BOA called me up soon afterwards

I have a credit card dedicated to online purchases. I don't use my main account for any card purchases, purely cash for me

Isn't the black box the thing they recover after plane crashes to figure out what went wrong?

I work in a card services department and we take claims on this on the DAILY.

The store that most crooks hit up is WalMart. You'll get your money back tho. I wouldn't get too worried about them getting your other personal info from your card.

And it's soooooo easy to fake those security certificates.

That's why I typically only use paypal when I make online purchases. Or buy with Amazon.

OP,

Place a security freeze on your credit report with all three credit bureau agencies ASAP. This will prevent anyone from applying for and receiving credit in your name. Essentially financial institutions won't be able to pull your credit report and therefore they won't extend credit. This is a very important step when you feel like your identity has been stolen. The only drawback with a security freeze is that you have to temporary unfreeze your credit report with each agency when you want to apply for new credit but the peace of mind you get is worth the inconvenience

OP, I would recommend using a credit card for all purchases and just keeping track of it....my AMEX and Citi cards have 0% liability for me if fraudulent charges are made on my account, someone in Cali tried to change the info on my citi card and they called me up immediately and cancelled my card and next day mailed me a new CC with a new number no problems.....When someone used my debit card info it took me over 30 days to sort out like 250$ worth of charges and it was a pain...so I only use debit to deposit/take out cash at atms

Credit Card>>>>>>>Debit imo

Somebody bought like $500 worth of porn on my card. The company was in Vegas and I would NEVER pay for porn. Wachovia rectified that for me

Happened to me after the PSN slip up but I caught it early. I emailed the porn place and they refunded me the money then called Wachovia and got a new card.
I mean if you gonna buy porn with my card just shoot me the username and password too

A debit card through Visa or MC also offers the same liability protection as well. If your bank isn't quick about sorting it out, take it up w/ them.

A lot of you probably just have had your computers hacked, if you get a keylogger and you're buying anything online they can see everything you're typing in and it isn't that hard either trust me smh. Make sure y'all protected.

I just realized I unintentionally do this. I only order stuff with my card and carry cash with me.
