Report: Assaulted Fan Had Spit On Pippen, Called Him N-Word

A day after TMZ's report that Scottie Pippen had kicked the **** out of an aggressive autograph seeker, Pippen's side of the story is starting to get out.

A source told the New York Daily News the hospitalized autograph hound was not just some harmless fan with benign intentions:

The fan started the tussle, spit on the ex-athlete and screamed the called him the N-word, the source said, adding that Pippen was holding his 4-year-old daughter at the time.

“Can you imagine, you’re out to dinner with your wife, your four kids and your mother-in-law, and someone calls you the N-word and starts to get physical?” the source said, calling the alleged victim’s story a “crock.”

The source further told the Daily News, "When Scottie left, this guy had no injuries." So does that mean someone else beat him up? A spokesman for the sheriff's office also said the unidentified man was described as having been intoxicated. No charges have been filed, and the police investigation is ongoing.

Buddy deserved EVERYTHING he got.

Bulls might be looking to get Thomas Robinson with there trade exception and go after Hardaway jr in this draft. If true I think these are great moves being made around the team. Im not in favor of this whole trade deng I know we could walk away with nothing, but there also a grater chance we dont get real value out the trade. I think deng takes a paycut he 28 and wants to win

The thing about Thomas is that he's an UNDERSIZED 4.

I love him but I'm not in love with his size at all.

I'd rather gamble on Tony Mitchell in the draft, but that's just me. He has some potential to be a 3, but he's a true 4.

there is zero reason to resign deng to a long term deal right now, his cap figure will still be the same for this upcoming season and you take yourself out the picture of any big names in 2014 class

I disagree I think there big reason to resign deng if he takes that paycut. As fans I think we fall in love with unrealistic things, who do yall really think were about to sign, we have a great team no doubt but CHI is not as an attractive city as others are, and this is just being real. Only two names seem to really be trying to become a bull and thats Lamarcus and Kevin Love and neither of those is coming till boozer is gone....

Hate to bring this up Taj is make close to 10 million a year hasn't played up to that money in any way, so im def not throwing deng under the bus

Imo renegotiate contracts with Deng, get rid of Boozer and or Gibson. Boozer is good and all, but he is overpaid imo. Taj Gibson isnt performing for the amount that we are paying him.

I would personally rather get THJ, thats only if the centers in the draft are gone. I really would like to get a big that can help Taj in the second unit and that can give Jo a break

All hindsight on that JJ pick, but where would Lawson or Jrue had fit anyway? They are both starters and likely woulda bolted as soon as they could due to not getting enough time.

Tom, how can you get rid of booz and or Gibson? you then have no power forward. plus I don't think booz has too much trade value bc he has two years left on his deal. Taj is underperforming, but I think that has more to do with loss of asik.

I'm not too worried if we keep the draft spot late in the first round. GarPax has shown they're pretty adept at finding talent at that spot; Taj / Jimmy.

Though I would want a wing/shooter drafted, I think a backup center with a defensive mindset makes more sense. If I had to guess, I think we pick Dieng/Whithey(sp).

If you followed college basketball then you knew James Johnson had 0 iq and played simply on athletic ability. There was nothing about him that suggested he should've been drafted at that position. NOTHING.

He was considered to be 3rd in the talent line on that GTech team behind Jeff Teague & Aminu

He went to Wake Forest

But yeah he was 3rd in talent and nothing about his game screamed Top 20 pick in a weak draft. I would've felt better about taking Taj @ #16 instead.

Lawson and Jrue could've been trade assets down the road before there contracts were up .. They both started off as backups anyway so it's not like they were coming in to steal DRose spot. Our SG position has been WEAK for years, so we could've easily ran Rose with Lawson or Jrue in the back court at the same time if necessary.

I like drafting talent, no matter what position they play, OVER taking a chance on someone who plays a position of "need"

That's the problem. Don't they pay people to follow college players??..scouts I think. How is that fans with jobs and kids can see this **** but paid "expert" professionals can't. Crazy that 5 straight PGs went after him, all starters except for maynor I believe. If only thy woulda drafted one to trade.

Oh well 1 for 2 in that round

Bulls have decisions to make, starting with Deng

Luol Deng has gotten plenty of action on the NBA rumors circuit the past few days.

Some potential trades were mentioned, along with negotiations for a contract extension, but a league source suggested there is nothing going on in either category right now.

In the meantime, Portland all-star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge could become a factor in what the Bulls do this summer.

As forecast here long ago, the Bulls plan to explore trade options for Deng, who is entering the final year of his contract worth $14.3 million. There's nothing to the rumor of Deng being traded to Washington for the No. 3 pick in the draft.

Deng will be tough to move because of his high salary. Washington and Cleveland are two young teams that could use a veteran presence, but there's no chance Deng would draw the No. 1 or 3 overall pick in return. Maybe if one of those teams were picking 10th, it might be possible.

Otherwise, teams looking at Deng would want the Bulls to take back a long, large contract in return and the Bulls aren't in position to do that. Would New Orleans trade Deng for Eric Gordon (3 years, $44.5 million)? Probably, but the Bulls wouldn't take on that contract, even if Gordon and Derrick Rose were on friendly terms.

A smart alternative for the Bulls would be to try to sign Deng, 28, to an extension this summer at a more reasonable price. A four-year deal worth $40 million would seem to be fair market value. It would be affordable for the Bulls and would keep Deng here with Rose during his peak playing years.

The question is whether Deng's camp would be agreeable to such a deal, especially after there's been some acrimony between him and management over the years.

Keeping Deng would be a wise move, because he's helped make the Bulls winners (eight playoff trips in nine years since the 2004 draft). Also, since LeBron James will continue to be an obstacle, the Bulls would be in better shape with two players (Deng and Jimmy Butler) who can challenge James defensively.

Bulls fans often to point to the 2006 draft-night trade of Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas as one of the team's biggest mistakes. It helped set the stage for lottery night 2008, so there's not much point in second-guessing now.

Word is, Aldridge wants to escape from Portland's rebuilding project and has made it known that he'd like to land in Chicago.

Deng for Aldridge won't get it done. The Blazers want Joakim Noah in return and the Bulls don't want to give up the superior defensive big man.

Here's one way to get Portland's attention: Offer Deng and Charlotte's future No. 1 pick. The Bulls are counting on that Bobcats' pick (acquired for Thomas, ironically), to pay off big, because it's unprotected in 2016.

If Charlotte improves during the next two years, though, that pick could end up in the teens. So cashing it in for a 27-year-old all-star has plenty of merit. Aldridge averaged 21.1 points and 9.1 rebounds last season, and could play next to Noah.

There's no telling what might happen this summer, but the Bulls have a large payroll and limited means to make changes. Deng figures to be at the center of whatever transaction that occurs.
