I'm in the process of buying my first whip and I'd like some input on getting an aftermarket audio system. Ican't afford to go balls to the wall with regards to cost (about $1000 budget) but I plan on getting a relatively decent system. Anybody care to share howmuch they paid for theirs?

Either you stick with your stock speakers or you go all out.

Just save up for a good system, it will be well worth it. Patience is key.

If you dont care all too much. Just go to Circuit City or something and get a system. Thats what I did in my old whip. I spent about $600 and it sounded coo.

Next setup will be 2 12" alpine type x subwoofers, tekique amp, db wiring/cap and sealed box again, with a crazy total of 6000w, for about $1350, if you do it, like other dude said do it big.
NICE

rule #1 dont buy car audio from best buy and circuit city

you gotta do some shopping. sometimes its best to get it all at one spot so you get a discount. but never best buy.

also look for hand-me-downs or someone selling it on craigslist but becareful cause people will sell you broken amps (where my Nas quoters at)

I like the peice of mind of going to my guy who I know and who knows me. You're looking at over a grand to get started with a decent system from scratch, anything less and you might as well stay stock. Or if you're buying a brand new car get the built-in premium audio systems and save all the trouble.

don't know how/why you got the impression that I was even remotely considering Best Buy etc. I just wanted to get aballpark figure on how much I will be spending to get a nice system. I can afford to shell out around a G at this point, so from what I hear I'm prettyset. btw I really appreciate all the responses so far fella's

if you say so..if you want some real advice and a REAL setup, send me a pm.

im done talking to this fool..

and to the dude who spent 7g's on his setup, you got played. you can get a top of the line setup for around 2-3k

on second thought, ill post it here.

get a pair of these, they are 100x better than those +$%@$+ pioneers he posted, despite the power rating. trust me i own a pair..this is what a SINGLE 12did..i now have 2

http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/5551

Get this amp to power them.

http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/7383

you can get better, but not really new.

get a custom box built, i can find you someone in the area for you. its about 100~ for one.

for wires get the 1/0

http://www.knukonceptz.co...fm?category=KLMX%20Kable#

you need about 19 feet for power and ground depending on the car

http://www.knukonceptz.co...y=Klarity%20RCA%20Kables#

get the last one's the 5meter ones.

http://www.knukonceptz.co...y=Inline%20Fuse%20Holders

get the 19.99 the 1/0 one.

for remote power you can use any speaker wire..and for sub wires you can use 10gauge, buy some from wal mart or something.

thats about 650~ without install for your setup, you can learn to install yourself, or go to a best but were they will charge you 80 bucks for it.

its easy to install yourself though.

let me know if you have any questions.

Car mods are a never ending black hole. Depending how long you plan to keep the car, I'd go mid-range, nothing crappy but not the top of the line either.
