CDROM not reading.windows vista..Help?

first time using it in i dont know how long and its not working..smh

any help?
 
ive been searching online for the past 2 days and still have found nothing,seems like a common problem..I just need it to work for a day.

Its an hp dv6000 laptop if anyone can offer more help?

Uh...

Well can you use another CD Drive and grab the stuff off the disc and put it on a thumb drive to access it thereafter if you need it RIGHT now?

Best thing you can do.

Create an image of the disc.

Copy the image onto removeable storage (thumb drive/SD card/etc)

Install a virtual drive on the computer you're trying to run the disc on.

Open the image on that computer with the virtual drive.

Win.

If you're not sure how to do the above, use Google. It shouldnt take you more than 30 minutes.
