He probably means simple/tame in a good way, compared to those cats who be dressing all feminized (purses, women clothes, rompers, etc).

Nike Shox are back, and Vince Carter hopes that means his signature shoe can get a retro release from Nike.

The ageless Carter was excited that Nike brought back the Shox concept with its Shox Gravity shoes, which it announced earlier this week.

Carter, who is still playing for the Sacramento Kings, was asked about the rebirth of the Shox and seemed thrilled they were back in the shoe conversation. He said he’d welcome a comeback of his VC Shox, which he famously wore when he leapt over 7-foot-2 French national Frederic Weis during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
Carter’s VC Shox came out two years later and had five versions, and Vince would love to wear a pair on the court again before he retires.

“I’d be cool if it comes back out and I’m still playin’—I’d be ecstatic,” Carter told Sole Collector. “They said they’d look into it; it would be great. This is a great start just to see that Shox shoe out there.”

Carter said that more than a few NBA players have come to him asking when they can get his signature shoes, so the market appears to be vast.

Carter isn’t the only one who would like to see his line return either. “The first day I saw this guy here [points to George Hill], that’s the first thing he asked for. There’s guys who are itchin’ to get that shoe back,” he explained. “All the young guys ask me about it and if I can get it for them.”
