Don't know if this should or has been already posted if so lock it up

But it seems the Bobcats are in the process of changing their name back to the hornets.

Read an official statement made by them.

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield released the following statement today after the announcement was made by New Orleans team officials regarding their intentions to change their official team nickname:

“We are aware of the impending change regarding the team nickname in New Orleans. We are currently in contact with the NBA and conducting our own due diligence relative to this matter. We will not have any further comment until we have completed this process.”

From InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner: I assume this means the Charlotte Bobcats are considering the possibility of once again being called the Charlotte Hornets. The current Hornets will become the Pelicans at the conclusion of the 2012-13 NBA season, so the Hornets name won’t be in use anymore.

The New Orleans Jazz move to Utah but don't change their name. The Charlotte Hornets move to New Orleans. Charlotte is granted a new franchise, they name themselves the Bobcats. The New Orleans Hornets change their name to the Pelicans. The Charlotte Bobcats then become the "new" Charlotte Hornets. Not to mention the Seattle SuperSonics move to Oklahoma City and become the Thunder. The Sacramento Kings then move to Seattle and become the "new" Seattle SuperSonics. God the NBA is wacky.

Yeah for real.

They've hired a big survey firm to find out as much as possible. Surveys were sent to season ticket holders to see if a name change would effect their buying habits and also asking how they felt about each name.

A survey will be sent to charlotte citizens later on asking similar questions. Basically Mike just wants to see if its worth the 3 million and if he will profit off it.

A group called Bring Back The Buzz had a "swarm" against the Kings where they bought an entire section of seats and they were all dressed in old hornets gear chanting "Charlotte Hornets".

Living in NC and being a bobcats fan i hope we do change back. The fact that Bob Johnson named it after himself never sat well with me

It's every sport...

Baltimore Colts...move to Indianapolis ... Indianapolis Colts ... Cleveland Browns move to Baltimore ... Baltimore Ravens ... New Franchise ... Cleveland Browns.

Oakland Raiders... move to Los Angeles ... Los Angeles Raiders ... move back to Oakland ... Oakland Raiders.

St. Louis Cardinals ... move to Arizona ... Arizona Cardinals ... Los Angeles Rams ... move to St. Louis ... St. Louis Rams.

MLB is just as bad, same with the NHL (*no one cares though).

The only difference is that the NFL and MLB revenues are so strong they can support fledgling franchises (Jaguars, Raiders, Chargers, A's, Marlins, etc.)

Might just watch a Charlotte game if they bring back the jersey...and twice if they play OKC
