why is he being inducted in the hall of fame? good player, but nothing special. he played for the dreamteam and was an all star several years.. but still that doesnt mean he should be in the hall of fame.. there are so many other players that deserve that honor more. if he can make hall of fame, then so should grant hill

you do realize how big of a deal the dream team was right?

the team as a whole has already been inducted. so you know every member will be inducted.

chris mullin's career aint too shabby either.

just like when reggie miller wasnt selected. people complained. yet there were a ton of other people who deserved it more than him.

people think with their memories and favs. and i guess in your case op you dont have fond memories of mullin

You trollin'?

Just to feed the troll let's start on the word deserve you used. NOBODY DESERVES ANYTHING IN LIFE! You earn things, and Chris Mullin has earned the right
to be in he hall of fame. Why are you mad? It's not like Chris was a first ballot hall of famer, which he is/was not. It's clear and present you're not of age to have seen
Chris Mullin play. He was nothing special? You're trippin' fambs. He was selected to play on the DREAM TEAM, the best basketball team that will ever be assembled.
Every player on that team (minus Christian) has hall of fame credentials.

For finishers answer this question for us, why SHOULDN'T Chris Mullin be in he Hall of Fame? Don't skip over that.

Mullin was probably the most underrated player of the late-'80s/early-'90s. His five-year peak where he averaged more than 25 points and more than 50% from the field is as impressive a run for a jump shooter as anyone. He also managed to get an All-NBA First Team nod in 1992. Add in five All-Star Games and a Wooden Award, and the Hall of Fame should have come a long time ago. There's also this from Grantland today:

OP, serious question; did you get a chance to see him play?

There's a difference between first-ballot Hall of Fame players, and Hall of Famers.

Hell, Artis Gilmore JUST got in.

Chris Mullin - to the HOF this week

I loved Mullin when he played and realize he's probably a fringe HOFer. But we need to also remember this is the basketball HOF and not the "pro" basketball HOF.

Mullin has this on his player resume in addition to his NBA success:

Signing to play for St. John's University in nearby Queens, Mullin in his freshman year averaged 16.6 points per game (also setting the school freshman record for points scored). In his subsequent three years for the Redmen, he would be named Big East Player of the Year three times, named to the All-America team three times, receive the 1985 Wooden Award, USBWA College Player of the Year and lead his team to the 1985 Final Four. He was also elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.

Mullin also won the gold medal playing for the United States in the 1983 Pan Am Games, 1984 Olympics, and 1992 Olympics.

- Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski considers Mullin choosing St. Johns over Duke one of his biggest recruiting defeats.

- "Every shot he made on that court, it was like Toscanini, the conductor," former St. John's coach Lou Carnesecca said. "Nothing happens in performance that doesn't happen in rehearsal and he certainly rehearsed. He loved it -- a fanatic."

- Mark Jackson: "I don't think I've ever known anyone who loved the game so much, who worked harder at it and got more out of it than Chris Mullin. He was actually a gym technician. He's as smart a basketball player as the game has ever seen."

- Magic Johnson: "When God made a basketball player, He just carved Chris Mullin out and said, 'This is a player.' "

- Jim O'Brien: ''He's a miniature Larry Bird. Neither of them have the speed, but both use their bodies extremely well coming off picks to bump defensive players, just enough to get them out of position. They are both players who are difficult to double in the post because they are such good passers.''

- Donnie Walsh: "One of the game's great shooters. One of the best to come out of New York City --high school, college, NBA. St. John's should be proud."
