Coachella 2015 (nm lock me)

Got into the car camp line at 6. 12th car in. Took a 20 min nap after nt sleeping and my body is ready!

Somebody in my group who said they could get the day off told us last night that she now couldn't, so now we have to leave SD around 6

so how does this work?

you pay one price and all the venues inside are accessible? only thing you pay for is food, drinks, and whatever stuff you want to buy from shops/stands?

or you have to pay individually for each event?

want to go next year

it changes alot they have been getting worse IMO, they try to make things more exclusive to make ppl feel special.

you could buy individual days, but now they make you buy all 3 days and a damn shuttle pass..

some tents you can only get in with certain bracelets, these are hipster chiull out spots with air n stuff like that, but general admission gets you into the basics,

theres a main stage then like 3 other tents, you can get into ALL of these.

but be advised tix go on sale mad early, and they go QUICK, there used to be payment plans but i think thats gone.

So much wrong here.

Individual day tickets haven't been sold since 2009.
You don't have to buy a shuttle pass until all the regular passes have sold out. Coachella has an allotted amount of shuttle/fest passes to sell because of a contract with the city.

General admission gets you in every tent except the Heineken House which is 21+. No special bracelet, just show your ID and get a 21+ bracelet.
Main Stage--Outdooor Theater-- Gobi Tent- Mojave Tent-- Sahar Tent-- Yuma. A pass gets you into everyone of these.
The payment plan is still in effect.
Tickets will go on sale next month and W1 will most likely sell out, W2 might too but I doubt. Best bet is to buy then. If you can't buy all upfront use a payment plan.
Better safe than sorry, considering you can always sell your W1 pass for at least face value when tickets go on sale again in January.

like i said you used to be able to buy individual days now you cant.

and i was referring to the music tents, and you are basically saying what i said.

not everyone is hip to the tickets going on sale in january HENCE why i mention they make you get a shuittle pass when you miss the presale.

but i dunno anymore i stopped going in 09 i think.

I have a shuttle pass for weekend 2. Can I sell it or there isn't a demand?

Also, anyone got the hook up for those daytime parties?

I know you guys are probably traveling/recovering but can't wait to hear your experiences. Heard great things about the Tame Impala and RTJ sets.

Nobody saw Jack White?

His show at Bonnaroo last year was absolutely epic

Im in forWeekend 2, this is my first time going so im excited.

Flying to LA on Wednesday, and then gonna drive to Palm Springs on Friday

I have a shuttle pass, but I doubt I can sell, there is probably not a demand for it.

We have a house in palm springs, how easy is it, to get people to come through and get lit?

any NT'ers trying to meet up at the craft beer garden. I'll be there in between sets double fisting an IPA, with a jack and coke in the other.

Alright a quick write-up of my 2015 Weekend 1 experience:

The trek from San Diego to the polo grounds:
  • Girls suck. Supposed to leave Thursday morning to set up camp and just hang out, enjoy some brewskis with the neighbors. Got told late Wednesday night that one of the girls can't leave until after work, 5pm. Was told we'd leave around 6pm Thursday night.
  • 6pm Thursday night came, still waiting on the girls. 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, and finally 10pm I get picked up. Campground gets closed off at 2am so I thought we'd be ok since it's just a 2.5 hour drive from SD to Indio. Was told in the car we'd have to pick up somebody in Long Beach, making it a 1.5 hour detour.
  • Stayed the night in LB. Left 8am, get to campgrounds around 10am. Was pretty easy, short lines for the car security check. We had so much crap in the car that security opened up the hatch and said "aww ****" and just asked questions, didn't physically check anything really.
  • Get directed to just about the worst possible spot because it was what I'm sure was literally a mile from the venue. The walk to the entrance sucked, and it sucked even more at the end of the night when your body is aching.
  • Word of advice if you're car camping on site, get there as early as you can.

On-site camp experience:
  • This was my third Coachella and my first time camping on site. Highly recommend it versus camping off-site or staying elsewhere that requires you to drive and park. You don't have to worry about a DD or wait in the parking lot for 2 hours trying to get out after a dead tiring day of partying.
  • Baby wipes are a godsend. Use them especially before going to bed. I skipped showering Saturday and opted for a wipe down using the baby wipes. I didn't smell/feel too bad.
  • The wait times for the boys' showers weren't too bad when I got there Sunday at 9am. It took maybe 35-45 minutes.
  • Freeze as many one gallon water jugs as possible and put them in your coolers. These lasted me the whole weekend and kept everything cold.

Music (I underlined my favorites):

Friday:

  • Action Bronson - first act we saw. Dude was LIVE. Highly recommend it.
  • Ab-Soul - kinda meh. King Kunta comes on, audience goes WILD, no Kendrick  Man of the Year comes on, audience goes WILD, no Q
  • Lil B - was what you expect from Lil B
  • Angus & Julia Stone - meh. Unmemorable performance.
  • Chef & Ghostface - decent set
  • The War on Drugs - was good. I fell asleep on the lawn while they were playing and the sun was setting. It was beautiful
  • Jon Hopkins - woke up and walked over to Yuma. Great set
  • Alabama Shakes - Also great, worth checking out
  • Lykke Li - One of my favorites of the weekend, mostly because I have a crush on her :wow:
  • DJ Snake - LIVE
  • Porter Robinson - LIVE
  • Flying Lotus - Great visuals, worth checking out.
  • AC/DC - MUST SEE. THEM OLD BAGS ROCKED THE STAGE FOR 2 HOURS STRAIGHT.
  • Alesso - I only caught the first half of AC/DC to catch Alesso. Dude also had a 2 hour set. Great times.

Nero - I missed Nero's set completely. I've heard/read they had an amazing set. Disappointed in myself.
A-Trak - Really wanted to see him in the Heineken House, but the line to get in was ridiculous and wasn't moving.

Saturday:

  • Gramatik - Saw based on a recommendation. Didn't know what to expect. Was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely check out.
  • Toro y Moi - I'm a big fan of his stuff, but this performance was kinda just ok. Nothing stood out
  • Cashmere Cat - What you would expect
  • Chet Faker - Meh. Unmemorable for me.
  • RtJ - One of the best sets of the weekend. When "Close Your Eyes" came on :wow: Travis Barker banged out too.
  • Glass Animals - Only caught the tail end because I stayed for the entire RtJ set, but it seemed like people had a good time.
  • Jack White - MUST SEE. Same with AC/DC, rocked **** for 2 hours.
  • Flosstradamus - Semi-ashamed for loving trap music, but I'm definitely not angry at myself for leaving Jack White's set to catch Floss. There was so much energy for this show and the crowd was live.
  • The Weeknd - Was special. Felt like 50,000 people knew every single word to the songs.

SBTRKT - Missed the show, but I've read they were having audio problem but played on anyway. Was apparently the worst set for many Redditors.
Axwell ^ Ingrosso - Didn't see, but heard they sucked too.

Sunday:

Mac Demarco - Enjoyed a lot. Saw Blake Anderson from Workaholics being escorted out by security in front of the fence
Martin Solveig - Went because my friends are EDM listeners. Meh.
Madeon - Was really good. Would check out especially if you enjoy EDM
Brand New - Must see. Lots of energy and emotion for the set.
St. Vincent - Must see. Annie shredded
Jamie xx - The slower techno is not my thing, so come here if it is.
Gesaffelstein - SET OF THE WEEKEND. Period. Weekend 2ers, plan to skip anything for the entire timeslot. I had to force myself to leave the set a few minutes early because I also needed to see.....
ODESZA - Only caught final 10 minutes, but they closed out STRONG. Really wished I got to see the entire set live. Luckily they were streaming on Youtube and I can download and watch it at home.
Drake - A little disappointed. Dude came out 30 minutes late and the entire set lasted a little more than an hour. That hour-plus was good times and everybody enjoyed themselves, but I would've liked seeing some more guests. Madonna aint cutting it. Definitely my least favorite closer for the festival.

Florence + the Machine - Heard they put on an AMAZING show. I skipped out because their performance at Coachella a few years ago was lackluster.

General recommendations:

  • Hit up the Do Lab if you need to kill time between sets you want to see. Was lots of fun each time I stopped by.
  • As you can tell, I checked out a LOT of artists/bands. Don't be afraid to split up with your group to see the acts you want to see.
  • Cell phones are unreliable. Have a set spot and time for you and your friends to meet up.

I'll edit this post if I can think of more things

Based mod I totally agree. Gessafelstein was in my top 3 favorite sets of the weekend. Everyone was dancing and no bad vibes. Touché amoré was my favorite set all weekend. Check them out if you're into music like a day to remember. I closed out the festival in the Yuma watching j.e.s.+s. Super fun set as well. Biggest disappointment for me was tycho. They went on late. They played great but the crowd was unbearable. People talking the entire time and this frat kid rolling, dancing like he was at a skrillex show.
