What techniques do you guys use to "read" faster?

I do the read-what-sticks-out-to-you method or read the first/last couple sentences of each paragraph.

If it's a novel, I read every word.

I have the ability to read pretty fast, I remember some of my friends tried to test me and I was able to read 4-5 pages in the amount of time it took them to read 2. They tested my comprehension and I understood the material about as well as they did. No humble brag intended.

I wish I could explain it better, but certain words stick out to me like you were saying. For example say I read a passage about someone who is about to take a test. I'll key in on the words nervous, score, and final and be able to conclude that it's a very important test that they need to do well on. A lot of the other words I'll skim over like "the, a, etc." and I'll filter them out.

I read that **** so easily, now if I was able to type that fast your boy wouldn't be unemployed still.
