Sup NT,
need your help for a second.
I'm doing a presentation on controversial advertising campaigns, and just wanted to ask y'all if you can remember any memorable ones?
It's a project that involves two campaigns and showcase their differences.
For example, "American Apparel" and "H&M" where they both display their brand name in a different manner. AA is known for more of anedgy campaign where H&M is more subtle yet gives out a culture that is more higher class.(this example has already been done).
I'm kind of stuck NT, and I know you always come through...
any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Looking into A&F,
yeah their products do seem to cross the line,
however I'm looking more into their ad. campaigns (commercials, billboards, ads in magazines) that may spark some controversy...
not necessarily the products they sell.
However, I will continue to look into A&F right now, see if anything can pop up.
thanks though,
anymore?

def. controversial.
however I couldn't find anymore stuff on Intel other than that.
I'm also looking for a campaign that also looks at the culture of the product/brand they're trying to implement...
for example, beer... the culture of being masculine, and the the fact that it's almost imperative to have a beer people are watching a sporting event.
(again it's been done).
this is tougher than I thought lol

cigarettes

Joe Camel in ads to appeal to youth

cigarette ads promoting an image of people looking beautiful and happy

old cigarette ads even stated that there were no health risks associated with smoking cigarettes i believe

I was actually thinking of doing that BMW and Audi battle.
It's hilarious as they're both German, luxury auto-makers battling against each other without being subtle lol.
Only thing, is there aren't many differences between the two in terms of the culture in which they want to represent and such.

You could go to Youtube.com and just search "banned commercial." Or use international commercials, there's one where a teacher gives his student, who appears to be about 15, an F and then she sucks him off and he gives her an A. I don't even remember what the commercial was for, might have been PopRocks or some sort of bubble gum. There was a JCPenneys one where a teenybopper, probably 13, has some of those low rise jeans on girls wear but has them up toher waist and her mom is like, "wait" and pulls them down a few inches then sends her off to school. There's the BK commercial about flat buns, the Clearasil "confidence" commercial series where dude like hits on his girlfriend's mom, there's literally tons
