Maybe it is a stain. You could always try to remove it but it'll turn yellow overtime eventually. So don't worry about it too much.

I'm not sure what it is. But based on the pics they are not DS coz there are some ceasing. So it pretty much gives you an idea that they were used pretty much anywhere. And that where the greenish color came from IMO.
