Curious why no love for Nike Air Max 97s or 95s?

Whenever I come and view the boards, it seems to be the only same thread (i.e. AM1s, Foams..etc) that are up on the top lists.  Even w/new releases of the AM 95s or AM 97s (i.e. Milans..etc)...not many people show interest.  Are these shoe styles just not a very popular ?

97s are my favorite air max.

95s are my favorite Air Max, but I can no longer bear the shape. They are also wildly uncomfortable now. So, I've stopped buying new releases. The vintage hunt is a problem too because the model isn't very durable.

I own probably 40+ pairs of AM95s, most of them from '95 - '05, but anything more than 10 years old is a heavy risk to wear. I've lost some really nice pairs due to cracking in the past few years - '97 leather slates, '98 yellow streaks, '99 women's resins, '98 crystal blues...

It's just the change in styles nowadays man. The 95's and 97's were so popular back in the day and it held some longevity in the early to late 2000's. But you have to honestly think about all the other air maxes like for example the 90's and the one mentioned above (AM1's). The most popular air max between those series to me is the 90's. The infared and laser blues as well the multiple og colors of the 90's always sell out quick nowadays. At the end of the day it's all about preference.

They're nowhere near as comfortable as all of the new shoes coming out now..

Dont know what u talking about, i love both, but right now j's foams and basketball kicks by marquee players is whats hot

That's not even half the equation though. The materials and shape are still ghastly.

There' plenty of love for the 98 - check the AM Fam thread. They haven't been retro-ed though, so they're not widely available.

(5's are one of the most comy shoes ever BUT AM 90s and 95s are a *******s go to shoe , They pretty much played them out just like Griffeys.

So, here are a list of some things that have went south on the 95s.

1. Gradient turned from dark grey to light grey to black to light grey.
2. Bubble size decreased drastically - though, I understand the reasons for that.
3. Materials used to be very plush and soft; materials are now very coarse and right
4. Shape used to be, I dunno, "rounder" overall. Newer pairs are narrower and almost fold in toward the top.
5. Lining used to be thick and comfortable; lining is now thin and not all that comfortable

In case you haven't noticed, I think the women's CWs were just as good as the mens. Women's Lightnings and Pears are still two of my AM grails.

I love the Air Max 1, 90, 95, and 97

I own a couple OG colorway AM 1s (white/red, white/royal blue, and a couple of others I can't remember), I own about 3 or 4 AM 90s, I own at least 15 pairs of AM 95s (by far my favorite of the air max line-i own four pairs of neon 95s from different years and have recently acquired Stash 95s ), and I only own two pairs of AM 97s

I think air maxes sometimes get put on the back burner because as a sneaker collector it sometimes gets too much to COLLECT EVERYTHING..you sorta have to pick n choose

In addition..the colorways and materials of the AM 1, 90, 95, and 97 are not what they use to b..the newer models are not as comfortable as they were in the past..and it's really a shame..

but make no mistake about it, these are CERTIFIED classics, a fresh pair will always make a outfit tight...stick to da suede gradiant

IMO, There are only a few Nike models that are actually collectible in the sense that they have a deep history of tons of obscure colorways that are really dope and forgotten classics.

How many shoes can you name that have come out in as many fly iterations as 95s? AF1s. Dunks (both regular and SB). I'd put the CW history of 95s ahead of 1s and 90s too, but I wouldn't argue about adding those 2 models to the list.

The AM95 is a top 10 all time Nike shoe - including Jordans.

I love the 95's. I just hate how the laces always seem to come undone.

And great collection, BIP. Love seeing a lot of those older pairs.

^^^ Thats because you are tying your shoes wrong. I use to have the same problem with 95's till about 3 yrs ago when someone posted shoe tying info on here. Take the right string and put it on the left side of shoe then take the left string and go over and under the right string then just tie like regular. They will stay tied.
