Curious why no love for Nike Air Max 97s or 95s?

lol i would say i do cuz more people like basketball kicks and cross trainers then runners homeboy.and most would agree they look better with jeans.that was my point.
 
thats why you see more people taking pics of runners wearing shorts than with jeans, compared to alot of other styles of shoes.

why?because like i said runners are narrow and jeans cover the majority of the shoe.i have no problem with people liking runners but most will agree they look not so great  with jeans.
 
Wearing baggy clothes or extra tight clothes is a trend that will fade.wearing clothing that fit will never.even if you wear jeans that fit they still look dorky with runners.pinrolling your jeans will also fade and wearing sweats is hardly a part of streetwear imo.and you fools wanna make jokes?but yet when winter rolls around you runner fanatics will still be wearing cargo shorts in your wdywt pics lol.
 
No, I "get point" just fine. You just sound stupid. I'm willing to bet most people in fact do not share your opinion. Sorry to hear you can't pull off jeans and running shoes.
 
dosent matter if they say it or not .the proof is in the pictures homeboy.probably 7 out of 10 pics i see are people wearing shorts because they cant pull them off with jeans.i bet you cant either.anyway shouldnt you be in school or something?were you born yet when the 95s were out?just sayin you wanna make jokes and you dont know what your talkin bout.

...In the US, you probably have a point. Though I don't think you can say that runners never made the transition to streetwear. 87s, 90s, and 95s have been released in more colors and sold more units than any Nike not named Air Force 1 (or Monarch lol), including Jordans. But, abroad the opposite is true.

If you are talking about just stunting for streetwear, the AM95 might be the most infamous Nike model of all time. Before streetwear was actually a thing and the urban style mavens were my vintage Polo and TNF fanatic brethren - the 95 was the sneaker of choice, above all Jordans, IMO. For whatever reason, those same tastemakers loved the Terra Humara low too.

Also, "streetwear" companies do more collabs on runners than on basketball shoes, don't they? Whatever you opinion on Supreme, I don't foresee them requesting to do a Air Max Uptempo collab.

Personally, I love both runners and basketball shoes, as well as cross trainers, etc.

Also, when you talk about basketball shoes as crossing over to streetwear, are you including Dunks and AF1s?

no doubt people outside the states show more love to runners but im not talkin bout those people.runners in the last few years have become really popular.a few years ago the only people buying new balance was little old ladys to walk their dogs(nah im not counting 574s they have always done ok,but other models)same with asics.the only reason is cuz of the clothing brand collabs...pretty much any brand does a collab with another it gets love so what is the  point your making? leather jogging pants,pinrolling your jeans,skinny jeans are all trends that will fade.and when it does people will go back to rockin runners will shorts and sweats which is hardly apart of streetwear..and i was 12 when the 95 came out and dont remember anybody pickin a pair of 95s over jays,just sayin?

as far as dunks,af1s,bruins, and shelltoes they looked better off court then ever did on so they dont even count.they are classics.
 
95s were really popular in the late 90s to early 00s around my way. Since the mid 00s, ppl gravitated towards am90 and more recently the lunars/frees.

So, I was definitely older than 12, and I do... heavy.

TNF was holding it down, and wearing a pair of Jordans with a Mountain Light, Extreme, or Steep (or maybe SnR or Heli, if you were getting it) was like wear a pair of golf cleats with a basketball jersey. 95s, 97s, and Terra Humaras got crazy love. If you were rocking sneaks, it was basically those. Otherwise you were rocking boots - Vasques, A-Solos, North Lakes, Dolomites, and Timbs.

You have to remembder the era of JB we are talking here. So, by time time the 95 drops, JB is on the 10, a model not nearly as well received as the 95. After the 13, JB fell off big time. I have 60-70 pairs of Jordans - 4 or 5 pairs of some of my favorites - I don't own a single pair numbered higher than 13. First gen retros hit in '94 - nobody cared. They rotted - the stores couldn't give them away. They got marked down to 29.99 - 39.99. Then, in about '98 the 95 gets even bigger with the release of a bunch of classic colors. By 2000, JB is releasing straight garbage sigs - the 15s hit 50% off. Meanwhile, 95s in every CW (mens AND womens) are still flying out the door.

If you bought 2 or 3 pairs of sneakers a year, you might have wanted the Jordans. But, if you were dipped, you wanted the versatility of colorways that a shoe like the 95 offered.

ok well i didnt know how old you were i assume most people on this site are in their late 20s or 30s.the point is we both remember them coming out.and when you was talkin bout jays you forgot to mention the 11s which sold great they sold out in hours.nobody on my block would of rather have 95s over them. 12s also got alot of love....and you bring up the point of retros?1994 was pretty much the first year nike messed around with retroing shoes.they dropped the 1s,3s,bruins,trainers 1s and a hand full of others that got no love.so people werent hip on retros and a lot of models went on sale not just jays.ok and tommy rebel huh?well if you saw that doc which i am sure most of us have he says that he came across a mom and pop shop selling vintage kicks for dirt cheap.whos to say he liked runners that much?if i had a chance to buy kicks for 15$ a pop i'd buy em just to beat up.so he liked 97s?dosent mean he wore them with jeans.and yea i remember some boots being hot but they aint kicks so no point in talkin bout them.

but what it really boils down to is.....do you really think running shoes look better with jeans then basketball kicks or cross trainers?probably not.
 
lol yall act like i ran over your dog by saying runners look wack with jeans its just how i feel.i made my point like 10 posts ago if you dont get it by now you never will.i cant speak on overseas fashion in 1995 or the late 90s i can only speak on eastcoast trends that i saw.for the record i dont hate all runners i will always have a pair of am90s in my stash cuz they are bulky and remind of a lowtop cross trainer.they i might wear with jeans but 95s?no way.i dont even hate 95s i wore a pair a few days ago lol just not with jeans.so its all good on my end do your thing  air max heads i am tired of going back and forth.

I didn't just see the documentary - I lived it.

Yes, mom and pops got raided for back stock for dirt cheap. That back stock included Jordans too - including 11s, especially Black and Reds. And, 12s - yes, they were popular, but they were also produced in absurd numbers. OG 12s were plentiful when people first started going to mom and pops and buying out dead stock... for the kids out there, that's the root of the term.

Corgi alone has sold probably 8 - 10 full size runs of each CW of OG12s - where did he get a lot of them? From buying out dead stock.

And, of course all these people wore runners with jeans. It's hard to believe that somebody who is generally reasonable and knowledgeable like yourself would have trouble believing this.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or act like I'm somebody important when I say this - because I'm not - but, we don't have to speculate whether Corgi actually bought dozens of size runs of dead stock OG Jordans from this era, or whether dudes known city wide for their gear in the 90s actually wore 95s with jeans, because I actually know these people.

As for whether basketball kicks or runners look better with jeans, it's not an all or nothing game, IMO. I think 95s are great with jeans - they wouldn't be what they are if they didn't. Some runners don't look so great. Some basketball kicks don't look so hot with jeans. Some do. It's more a shoe to shoe thing than an overarching theme, IMO.

its all good dude i dont care if you act like a jerk or not as long as you have a point thats all a care about.and i dont keep up with corgi and dont  buy many kicks as i used to so i cant speak on him and what he has or hasen't sold,but i am sure he has sold am95s in the past?i feel like i made some good points and so have you and im sure someone else will get at me.i know people rock runners with jeans i just refuse to believe they look good.and still think you see more cats rockin jays,and trainers with jeans.

regardless man its all good i enjoying hearing your thoughts you seem to know your facts,i am sure we will bump heads sometime in the future.

The air max 95 is a very common shoe to see people wearing. They are obviously a very popular style of shoe.

For the air max 97, it's a different story. Definitely not a shoe that you commonly see. And I'm not surprised. It's just not as nice looking as other air maxes such as the air mac 90, air max 1, air max 95 etc.
 
NOT SURE WHERE THIS OPINION IS COMING FROM…THESE ARE HIGHLY LOVED AND RESPECTED… ESPECIALLY THE 95'S AND ESPECIALLY IN NYC.. THE ONLY THING THAT SUCKS ABOUT 95S IS THAT NEW SILHOUETTE THING THEY DO WHERE ITS ALL ONE MATERIAL… TERRIBLE
 
where is this opinion coming from??my youth and my environment.nobody was debating if 95s got love or not.but where i lived i did see more people( older kids)wearing veers,unlimiteds,minots,jays,timberlands.when the foams came out some dudes were rockin them pretty much everything but 97s and every once in a while a 95s but that person was also wearin em with shorts or windbreaker pants/sweats.i know that 95s get rocked with jeans i just refuse they believe any runner looks good with them.

so i dont know why you sound confused by my thoughts of course fashion is different all over the world maybe 95s got rocked hard with jeans in nyc thats cool.
